Excessive bowing issue with Mopar lift kit springs for JL

Uh, they did. They created a new part and contacted me to bring it in for installation. Mine never rubbed the bump stop, even off-roading, but they still took care of it. They made a statement with their actions, which is a better way to do it. They then contacted me afterward and told me if I had any more issues to bring it in and they'd take care of it. I'm not sure how that can be construed as not taking responsibility or ownership.

Uh, When was this? Mine was installed in January. Less than a month old. The bow doesn’t bother me. I’ve seen the video of the Mopar guy explaining the bow. The fact that it’s rubbing the bump stop with the correction pads is what’s concerning—as other have said. Every time I go in and out of a driveway you can hear it hit and rub. It’s loud. I’m saying they (Jeep and their authorized dealer) should be ahead of this stuff. I’ll call me dealer tomorrow and I bet they are like “uhhh weird” instead of “oh yeah let’s get that fixed, Jeep told us this could happen”

That is the Driver side spring LF. Looks like it's on the wrong side.

As you know, some dealers are clueless, even when FCA is telling them something. @JeepCares helped with mine and may have given my dealership direction. Either way, they stepped right up, both @JeepCares and Westgate Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep/Ram, and took care of it. I could't be more happy with how they handled this and the off-road pages, which turned out to be much more difficult than the spring.

Seems very common to see installers and dealers screwing up the pads and springs and not realizing they are side specific. Hopefully that gets it taken care of for you. You might tell them to put new pads on there, in case it deformed it.

Springs will be fine. The pads, though, maybe not. That won't bug the springs a bit.

Don't bother with using the mopar spring perches.They will always deteriorate and collapse especially if you wheel it. My stock ones had collapsed on the drivers side to the outside. I noticed it when I installed my Mopar lift. Luckily the shop had a pair of Rock Krawler perches there for $30. Months later, still not bow to the springs.

That’s supposed to spin freely, it’s a dust shield. I lost one wheeling, and is impossible to find. There are hundreds online but not for the new axles this year. Dealer doesn’t even show a part number for it . It’s part of the axle assembly, so my dealer is doing warranty claim to get me one, I’ll let you know how I make out. Here’s a picture of it. Just snaps together, I glued the one I still have when I snapped it together on axle just make sure it spins freely. I think I popped mine off turning while in 4 wd and lockers engaged. Oh, and the number stamped on shield doesn’t mean anything to help find it either.

You don't see the bow there? I do. That's pretty close to how mine looks after the Mopar fix. Btw, that bow is how it is designed to be, so you are good to go.

I've got thousands of miles including hard off road on the Mopar perches and they look fine. There is an epidemic of incorrect installation on the Mopar pads and springs. The Rock Krawlers may not have to be so precisely installed, or their instructions are better. Either way, they look like they are solid.

The Rock Crawlers appear, at least in pics, to give slightly more lift, too. It may be just an illusion, but that looks like a 1/4 inch or so gain. Nice!

I think one of the problems is the spring itself(or the line it was produced on) because some are good and some are not. The dealer replaced my lift and each side is identical now. With the first lift the isolators were replaced and it didn’t fix the issue, it was worse. I had a leaking passenger shock and the shock was back ordered at the time for months so my dealer was able to convince Mopar to replace entire the lift. Problem solved.

Look closely the instructions on the spring placement IS WRONG. The pictures don't match, so it's hard to know what to follow in anyone's defense. Such bullshit instructions should have been amended.

I just had a dealer say this is normal spring bowing and that with the current bulletin released 4/10/18 FCA does not require dealers to replace lower spring isolators because bowing is normal.
