Yes your correct in the height. The “rule” for driveshafts and control arms are measured off a rubicon, so by that thinking I’m only 2.5” over stock height.Hello.
First of all, congratulations for so nice transformation.
I have a question for you: If you fitted on Rubicon suspension, that is 1'5" higher than Sport's one, and you also added a 2'5" Rugged Ridge spacers lift kit, you finally lifted the Sport a total of 4". Am I right?
And, if so, shouldn't you change the four arms and both driveshafts?
Yes your correct. The arms are the exact same between the rubi and the sport. My guess is the lower mounts on the rubi axle are slightly different to make up for the caster loss with the addition height. On mine it did get a little “darty” on rough roads. Adjustable lower control arms or drop brackets would fix the issue. So, if I understand right, if I fit a 4" lift kit on a Sport, I won't have to change arms and driveshafts? Or maybe just front lower arms?
And one more question: When you fited the Rubi suspension kit, did it come with the Rubi front lower arms, that are longer than Sport's ones? And, if so, after Rudge spacer kit, did you have to fit longer than Rubi front lower arms, or Rubi ones were enough?
It’s a good bit of work. You need to remove the rear panels then the latch boxes. On mine the latch boxes had to go up and to the rear quit a bit. Had to do it to all 4.How did you fab those JK tubular doors to fit the JL? I love those doors, but so far very limited on what’s available for my JL.
End result looks fantastic. Glad you made it work, but that’s beyond my skill level. Guess I’ll just have to patiently wait for more JL doors to make it out. It’s a good bit of work.
