A couple of weeks ago, my 3.6 AT developed an engine whine that is directly related to accelerator pressure. It occurs when the engine is cold or warm and happens whether or not the vehicle is moving. I took it in for diagnosis and they told me that the belt tensioner/idler pulley needs to be replaced. It's still under warranty for another year and it's only got 14,000 miles on it, but I was definitely surprised that something like this had already failed...
I'm still waiting on the part to arrive, so we'll see if that actually eliminates the noise, but I hadn't seen any other posts about this particular issue, so I thought I'd share. I'll be sure to update once I retake possession of the vehicle late tomorrow.
