About two inches measuring from the top of the rear flare to the sidewall (probably 1.5 to end of tread and sidewall bulges out another .5 or so) and about 1.75 inches measuring from the top of the front flare to the sidewall. Obviously more where the front flare starts tapering as it approached the front door sills.

Awesome! Thanks for the help and info. I really appreciate it.

Borla exhausted purchased like new locally off Craigslist for around $175. Attempted to self-install. Removed OEM. Wrestled for an hour trying to get new pipes to marry. Finally, took it to my mechanic friend who used a pipe spreader to install in ten minutes. Ugh!

Which version of the Borla do you have and what do you think of the sound versus stock? Great build!

I forget the actual name - theIr most basic one - the “Touring” I think. It’s the mildest. It sounds very similar to OEM. Not loud. No drone that bothers me.

Decided to hit pause on the skulls grill (just not my style although it looks badass), so I tracked down a gloss black like new takeoff Sahara grill. Swapped out the Sahara silver grill trim for my Rubi gun metal gray trim, added my ocean blue lower trim pieces, then installed. It has a Rubi "Reclone" look now. I like the black contrast!

I didn't want to say anything when you installed the skullz grill... but MUCH BETTER now!

DIY "No-par" satin black grill mod - gently sanded a cheap blue takeoff grill, cleaned with rubbing alcohol, spray painted with satin black, spray coated with satin clear coat. Now it's drying. Will reinstall in 48 hours when it's dried and hardened. Whole project including takeoff grill and paint ran me $85.

Two pics show gloss black OEM grill (which I was running) vs DIY No-par painted satin grill.

And it's not a mod unless there's some blood spilled. Those grill guards snap out surprisingly and violently. I'm 2-for-2 getting caught and bleeding. I suggest gloves for this part.

Lastly, I swapped my JT Gladiator grill guards over to the newly painted grill. They do make a visible difference temp-wide. Running the JL version, I was pretty much dead center on-the-line in the middle. Running the JT version, I am almost down to the next lower line. Practically, does that matter? Who knows. But there's a visible difference on the gauge for sure!

Let there be light!

Baja Designs LP6 lights. My first attempt at wiring and installing auxillary lights. Wired the low and high beam functions to the OEM aux switches. Going into it, I felt like Clark Griswold at Christmas troubleshooting my way through this project! Coming out of it, it was much easier than I anticipated.

Tomorrow, it's time to figure out how to wire their backlit daytime running lights function.

Anybody have thoughts on tapping into a fuse in the fuse box vs tapping into the actual DRL wire?

Fin. I like the subtle satin tweak to the front end. It pulls the steel bumper, winch guard, and plastic flare trim together.

The gloss felt too much like the Willys and Recons coming out.

Plus DIY is always more rewarding!

Do the OEM TPMS sensors work with the Fuel wheels? I've got the wheels and tires on the way so I'm trying to figure out the TPMS situation. Thanks!
Oops - This got past me. Apologies. I had terrible problems with the TPMS in my Fuel Vector wheels with KO2s. (Terrible simply meaning all four were very unreliable and would all fault and then renegade randomly at various times). So, I used my Tazer and just turned them off entirely.

Fuse tap into the DRL fuse is the easiest and cleanest way forward, especially since the lights are right above the fuse box.

Did you mask off the side so the side-lite function does not come into cab?

No I didn’t - I didn’t realize that would be a concern. Good to know and I’ll have to experiment with that once I get the wiring finalized and the doors and top back on.

No problem. I bought new OEM TPMS sensors to install and haven't had any issues with my wheels and tires. I'm running the same exact wheel and tire as you, so that's weird. Did you buy the OEM sensor or another model?

Retired from Corrections....I have stories.
Purchased an abandoned hydrodipped skulls blue grill for about $160 and decided to run it for a few months. Customer placed the order then sold the Jeep before it was complete. I found it local - hydrodip guy just wanted it out of his garage. ☠

I love the grill, it is subtle, but once you see, heck yea. I might have to do something like that.

I wired the Baja Designs LP6 backlighting option for daytime running lights and they look awesome with the faint glow! I wired them to the fuse box and used F60 heated steering wheel fuse (which I don't have). Very pleased 👍

Added Quadratec flashlight holder for under driver seat... Moved maglite there... Then added Element 100 fire extinguisher on the roll bar mount.
