JMO but I think OEM's do listen. Trouble is USA vehicle consumers are, how do you say nicely, unique. Over the last 50 years the "big 3" has released more laughable one hit wonder models based on their research. Research targeted at the American market only. Many have been duds and cost them many millions that could have been spent on better quality for less models. We've lost a lot of ground globally listening to the American consumer. JL offered with a 4cyl, 6cyl, V8, dsl, exe, seriously? That's a ton of money tied up with powertrain options that might have been spent making the JL even better with better quality. JMO
True, the wife wants the new design MB GLC SUV. The only YouTube reviews out that drive the cars are European. And both reviews we saw last night sported diesels. Europeans are just smarter than we are on fuel usage and engine types.

Yes the wrangler diesel will be dead soon enough. Ford F150 killed the diesel. GM killed diesel in the Colorado. Jeep only did the Diesel because certain people were crying for it but in reality itā€™s the completely wrong vehicle for a diesel. diesels are for towing a jeep is the opposite of towing. Everybody knows this. You canā€™t even get this fake diesel in the gladiator with the max tow package. Itā€™s just a compliance engine worthless. And good luck getting parts for those a decade from now. Lol. Theyā€™ll be throwing them away and doing conversions. Bet.
Jeep is the opposite of towing?

I have towed a 5000lb boat with mine for 2 years now. It's GREAT for towing!!

My requirements when getting a vehicle back in 2020:
- Must be fun to drive every day (coming from sportscars, I needed something fun; no doors + no roof = fun)
- Must be able to tow at least 5000lbs
- Must carry 5ppl comfortably
- Must fit in a 22' long garage and be less than 7' tall
- Must be less than $500/month (lease)

The Wrangler diesel was the only vehicle that met all those criteria.

I waited specifically for the Diesel to come out before ordering a JL. I was not a JK fan and the JL was a huge improvement in everything but the engine category. That's all changed now, however I think we're going to see only the 3.6, 2.0 and electric soon. Goodby V8 and Diesel. Stellantis as a company is very much on the path to reduce ICE. This is only the beginning. I suspect the 2.0 hybrid may be the only gas powered option in a few years. Hope I'm wrong but I'll hold onto my existing jeeps and my incoming Braptor (would have been a 392 if I had not been 'selected').

Iā€™m a diesel fan big time. My ā€˜16 EcoDiesel 4x4 will Easily bust 30 mpgā€™s on the highway. 80 k miles, zero issues. ā€˜Splain to me again how my diesel, which never puts out the least puff of visible emissions is ā€œdirtierā€ than my friends Gasoline powered V8 Titan that runs a tad over 12 mpgā€™sā€¦.. if the EcoD is Twice as dirty as the gasser, itā€™s still cleaner since itā€™s burning less than 1/2 the fuelšŸ˜³. Years ago I had a Prius that was a work car. My personal car was a VW diesel Jetta. The Prius averaged 48.6 mpgā€™s over 30k miles. The Jetta could not be made to get less than 50. If the Prius was running on gas in a closed garage the exhaust smell got very strong very quickly. The Jetta did not. The US is not a diesel friendly country and dieselā€™s get a bad rap years ago (thank you GM and your ā€œconvertedā€ gas enginesšŸ˜’). (And the morons with 8ā€ exhausts on their pickups laying a smoke screen because they are over fueled does NOT help the perception). For decades most European countries were dominated by dieselā€™s and any produced in the last 20 years or so are free of noticeable emissions (and yes, I know about the nitrogen oxides issue) and very similar in overall total emissions to gas burners

My current ecodiesel is the cleanest burning engine I have ever had in my life, which includes a total of 14 cars/trucks/jeeps. I feel like the emissions coming out of the tailpipe are cleaner than half the air in most major cities.

very true, same for me. I'm thrilled with the diesel motor and never been so happy behind the wheel.

I'm worried my order will not be filled now. I've got a Sarah Altitude Ecodiesel in C Status. I told my wife they would probably cancel my order. She asked what I would do. I said, " Order a Rubicon 392 or 80k". She said "Over her dead body". I'm going to miss her.

Why would they cancel your order? There is no news that the eco diesel is going away for the wrangler. I know the writing is on the wall but I honestly donā€™t think it is going away in 2023. I would think you should be able to order one in 2024 as well.

The final nail in this diesel coffin will be after November when diesel and gas prices spike dramatically again.

Prison dentist...no, seriously šŸ˜· RETIRED!!!
The ONLY reason I'm driving a jeep right now is because of the diesel option. It's such a hoot! Otherwise I'd have just kept the bmw diesel wagon šŸ˜†. Loved that car but I got tired of sitting on the ground.
I love a diesel....if they drop it this will likely be my last jeep.
Before you knock it, at least drive one, preferably with a throttle controller to compensate for the lame pedal response they engineered into it just to add 0.5 mpg. Instant torque. 500 mile range. 32 highway, 27-30 overall average, depending on the season. Excellent transmission shift points. I hope mine lasts forever.

Had this exact conversation with my wife tonight because of the diesel news.

She is about to retire, and when she gave me the "no Wrangler is worth $90k" speech I told her, you know when you have no income in a month or two you will be worth more dead than alive.....
