Curious what everyone’s solution is for getting power to a roof top tent? Are you installing a bulkhead or some kind or just closing it in the freedom top or rear hatch? Any wind noise, leaks, etc?

I have a soft top on mine. Just going thru the rear side window (lower rear corner). Utilizing SB® Environmental Boots with Anderson Power connectors.

That’s a great idea! I love power poles, but usually use them for ham radio stuff, I use Deutsch connectors for all things automotive and wasn’t even thinking about power pole. Got my gears turning about finding some kind of in use bulkhead if it exists.

*googling*

Deutsch DTP 4-Pin Flange Connector Kit 10-12 AWG Stamped Contacts https://a.co/d/ejYBCQi

Deutsch 6-pin 14-16AWG Flange Black Connector Kit Solid Contacts (Made in USA) https://a.co/d/aZIrUNL

Hmmm… maybe, gotta dig around a bit.

If your running a hard top then it shouldn't be hard to slide a decent gauge wire through either side of their rear window hinge.

You could also put the wire below and up if you're running a soft top, as follows:

I saw that path near the hinges as well. Just wasn’t sure if anyone had done it. I’m concerned about leaks where the wire feeds through the weather stripping on the window. Probably wouldn’t amount to much, but I’d hate to have issues

I have personally done it. In fact all 4 of openings are used for wires (2 (+/-) for solar plus two linear actuator's wire pairs that can adjust the solar panel's angle).

Not a drop of water has come in under all weather conditions, from ice and snow to wicked sideways thunderstorm rain.

WOW, I think that's the first time I've seen anyone use the right color connector.

I just did this a few weekends ago with no issues in the rain or washing the car so far. Here was my post and the parts I used, very solid and people don't even notice the wire when opening the rear.
