Ecodiesel Wandering

Hey guys, just picked my Wrangler up last week. Love it so far.
I do notice however a bit of wander while on the highway. Constantly correcting to stay straight, wondering if it’s due to the combination of lighter steering and the extra weight of the diesel.

Ive got the Mopar 2” lift kit ordered, but I’m wondering if there’s something I could also add that might tighten up the steering?

congrts on your new jl and welcome to the forum. as for the steering, in general, it will feel loose, lighter, and will wonder due o being on a solid front axle. where as a independent front axles is more fine tune. also the steering box have been an issues on the jl models. prior to "late" 2020 and 2021 year. the steering box was made out of alum where the "late" 2020 and newer boxes is made out of steel. there is a tsb on the issue.

There is a TSB for the new steel steering gear (check the Repairs sub forum). The 2020s still have the aluminum gear.

Also check your caster to see where you’re at. You want it to be between 6 and 7*. You should consider getting adjustable LCAs with your lift.

Here's the TSB. Mine has the aluminum steering box. Since this isn't a recall, I don't think you'll get anything in the mail, its only for the ones who complain. I'm calling today.

Just got off the phone with the dealer, and they said there's no TSB listing under my VIN, so no go. I called Jeep Cares, and they said the TSB applies TO ALL 18-20 JEEP WRANGLERS AND 2020 GLADIATOR. They are supposed to contact the dealer today and I should get a call back within 24 hrs. We'll see what happens.

Welcome to the crappy steering club. Go to the TSB area of the forum for info. Long story short there's a fix, most dealers seem to be willing to apply the TSB so long as there's not tons of aftermarket modifications, but parts are few and far between and so far communication from FCA has been terrible.

Bring it to the dealer to inspect and put you in the line for TSB parts ASAP.

Finally got it into the dealership today.... steering box TSB it was. Part is backordered until first quarter 2021. Lol. ?

I read somewhere that FCA is prepping to issue a full-blown recall.

Apparently they are stockpiling parts to be able to handle the recall.
