My first ecodiesel rolled in Moab, so here's the 2nd eco. Going for a similar build, as I loved the last one. Couldn't find a sarge again, so went with granite crystal. Little bland, but couldn't find the colors I wanted.
This build is made for rough terrain camping. I love being in the middle of nowhere and being alone for vast distances. Plus some occasional difficult trails.

4.5 i believe.

The inner fender was partially trimmed, but still rubs on full flex. Will trim some more.

How are you liking the Morimoto lights?

The hype on those lights are pretty high. Specially the Toyota guys rave about them!

They're very nice lights. Watched a lot of reviews, and seen them do tests on several different companies lights, and morimoto seem to best all of them, both brightness (lux) and heat fading.
I think they're also the only ones using an actual amber led as opposed to yellow film, though they do that too, but offer the nichia led (which i really like).

Thanks! Thinking between this and the Baja Designs.

I envy your ability to do the work yourself. I really want a new 2 Door however reading the forums I have learned about this oil leak problem on the manual transmissions and a gear slip problem with the automatics. The little plastic part on the manuals breaks and causes a engine killing oil hemorrhage. It can be replaced with an aluminum OEM part IF that is machined down smooth for a tight fit. Have any of you found this or the gear slip on automatics to be an issue and were you able to resolve these problems successfully? TIA

Cool build!!

Love that it's an EcoDiesel!!

Do you ever get any trouble from the local Smokies about the modified intake?

I watch a lot of YouTube videos, and there's so many dudes on there getting stupid tickets for modified exhaust and intake on completely stock sports cars.

Love the build, 72,000 mi is a lot though, and if you're not going to be getting rid of all of the engine poisoning parts, I don't know how long it's going to last you before your engine chokes to death.

Have you looked into getting the intake manifold inspected and possibly cleaned out / replaced? I would highly recommend you either take to a shop or do it yourself at 100,000 miles.

No, police don't look at jeeps at all.
Do you mean delete or weightloss? We get smoked annually, I'm not sure how to pass that. I'd have to know a 'guy'.
I'm at 82k miles now.

I didn't even know about people replacing their intake manifold, is that common? Street legal upgrades available too?

I haven't noticed any gear slips, hopefully won't be an issue.
My buddy has a manual and they had to do a recall for it.

2024 JLR X 35" Package
You'll see posts from me on the 3.0L section of this Forum. To learn about historical issues, you'll need to visit some Ram forums. I loved the torque of my EcoDiesel, but did not love the high DEF use, concern about failure, nor the overheating. I traded it in and got a JLR 2.0L and though not the same, the lighter weight of the 2-door and the little turbo with 4.56 gears (factory 35" tire package), it surely hustles. Also, the floating rear axle is a nice touch.

Nice build thus far. Best mix I found was M.O.R.E. engine and trans skids, Artec DEF skid. On my JK I used the Quadratec aluminum skids. On this 2024 JLR, I am using an ARTEC engine/trans skid and a M.O.R.E. transfer case skid.

Yeah I definitely wouldn't mess with weight loss if you live in California. Way too risky. Though it is cool if they don't mess with Jeepers out there.

I'm pretty sure the video I linked was for a 1500, but all the EcoDiesels have that problem. Definitely one of the downsides of dumping your soot back into the engine. If you did know a guy, a stage one would definitely be beneficial if you're going to keep it long term! The only downside of a stage 1, is that it's going to put more weight on your SCR DEF DPF systems, which will probably cause those to crap out sooner, and in my case, you'll eat DEF like crazy. Every six fuel-ups I go through about 3 gallons of DEF, but on the plus side, my engine won't choke to death. I don't know what that would mean for a smog test though, whether it would pass or not. I mean, the soot is still getting cooked and the DEF is still killing the noxious gases, so I'm not sure if it would still pass or not. Definitely wear knowing a guy would be nice in case it wasn't to the states standards. It definitely wouldn't be as high as if you did a stage two tune, but I would imagine it might be a little bit higher. 🤷‍♂️

If you remove your EGR tube (making sure not to lose those screws that connect to the intake manifold, because with the lack of space in there it's really easy to drop those down into the engine bay), You can shine a flashlight into your intake manifold, and you can see just how bad it is. And then depending how you feel about it, reinstall the EGR tube and bring it to a mechanic you trust to do the swap and maybe clean out the intake tubes that go into the engine. Personally I wouldn't take it to the dealership, unless you have a really good dealership near you (our Subaru dealership is like that, I trust them, but I don't trust any of the Jeep dealerships near me, bunch of morons they are), I would take it to a shop you trust with mechanic you know is experienced and get their opinion after they look at it.

It's probably going to be an expensive part to fix, I always figured I would do it myself at 100,000 miles just in case. I only have about 18,000 mi of dirty engine time, so I'm probably not too bad off, but I'm sure there's some gunk in there that I personally want to take out. I'd like my engine to last at least 300,000 mi before I do an engine swap. 🤗

A lot of great info there! Appreciate it.
I would love to delete, but knowing so little and not wanting to mess with anything I'm not knowledgeable about, I'll have to wait, or see if additives can help haha!
My uncle (diesel mechanic) says I should of bought an older diesel vehicle that is exempt from emissions garbage. But they don't have old jeeps with diesel sadly.
Is there a way to clean the soot manually or is that not feasible and a ton of work?
