I’ve got the 392 V8 and this is what the manual says:

6.4L ENGINE

Do not use E-85 flex fuel or ethanol blends greater
than 15% in this engine.
These engines are designed to meet all emissions regulations, provide optimal fuel economy and performance when using high-quality unleaded “Premium” gasoline having a posted octane number of 91 as specified by the (R+M)/2 method. The use of 91 or higher octane “Premium” gasoline is required in these engines.

you can use E-15
Most stations nationwide have E-10 gas as standard which cuts mpg by about 3%, E-15 cuts it by about 4.5% so 25 mpg on pure gas drops to 23.9 mpg on E-15 which was already down to 24.2 mpg on E-10
You can also still buy non ethanal gas which is more rare in most places and not so much in a few
E-15 here is 88 octane and today is $4.30 vs $4.60 for E-10 87 octane so stupid not to get it if you were buying 87 anyways
Never had any issues and my Ram Hemi which asks for 89 runs great on it but rough on 87

Everyone must use parenthesis in their posts moving forward (this is the way). By the way, @Chocolate Thunder - care to share your new drink recipe? Looks like I'll have some time on my hands this afternoon grilling burgers, etc.
I’m a red blooded, bourbon-loving heterosexual guy. Let me start with that.

However…

A coworker just turned me on to Rumchata. I used to bartend for several years so I love experimenting and inventing new things. At least half of them are horrible. But I put this together - I don’t know, it might already be a thing - and I’m still evaluating it. I think it might be better as a frozen drink.

  • crushed ice in a tall glass
  • 1 to 2 parts Fireball (yes it’s disgusting, but hear me out)
  • 2 parts Mozart white chocolate liqueur
  • 4 parts Rumchata
  • shake and enjoy

It may need some tweaking, but it ain’t horrible. I should know, I’ve had 4 of them.

Burgers sound better than this stupid ethanol debate for sure !

Better bring along the tents with all those drinks 🤪 🥃

The confusion here is because 85 + 15 = 100, and there are two labels E15 and E85.

But E85 and E15 are NOT the same thing.

E15 is 15 % alcohol, and 85% gasoline. It is OK to use.

E85 is somewhere between 51 up to 85% alcohol, with whatever proportion remains being gasoline.

It is NOT ok to use.

The manual is trying to warn you off of E85, while allowing E15.

Not only is E15 safe, it's your only choice sometimes.

As mentioned, letting it sit is the problem. So, lawnmower and chainsaw worriers, get some regular premium for when the machine sits. Todd a splash of seafom or stabil in with it.

I pulled into a Flying-J a few moths back and all their regular was e15, so it's been on sale here in Iowa for a while. Iowa just passed a law requiring stations to sell it.

We weren’t allowed to squawk about politics so instead we had to be pedantic about the English language. :D

Now I agree, time for some good drinks and burgers!!

Yeah...my local stations here in Iowa carry E10 87, non-alc 87, and non-alc 93. My usual is fairly new, so will likely have E15 soon.

Small stations can be exempted, so since you live in the middle of nowhere 🙂, maybe your station is small enough to have the option to stick with e10.

My shopping town is Muscatine, 18 miles away by goat track. (why I drive jeeps) 😂 Plenty of stations, some decent size and newer gear. There'll be E15...dunno if I'll ever buy any, but needed to know possibilities.

Closer to civilization than I thought. I approached from the northwest when I picked up your back seat.

Yup, it's further that direction. Ever install that seat?
