The purpose of this thread is to discuss dyno information for turbos/superchargers/v8's/etc so we can gain a better understanding of this method of measuring power, keeping in mind that this is only one way to measure performance. Another is to actually drive a vehicle on the road/track to compare as well. So please feel free to post any dyno charts, questions, concerns, comparisons, etc to the community.

When posting... please state your # of experience from the poll.

My crew and I spend time at the local dyno shop every year with our Mustangs. We've got GTs, a Mach 1, GT500, etc. in the group. Everything from 300 HP to 750 HP. It's very interesting to see various cars on the rollers because in my opinion that's how you learn what works and what doesn't.

Since today's midsize 4x4s are largely using car engines, unlike a couple of decades ago when they had truck-specific engines, the rules that apply to cars also hold true for pickups and SUVs.

Having said that, I haven't had my JL on the dyno yet because honestly I don't see the point. If you want a fast 4x4, a V8 pickup or SUV with a blower or turbo setup is your ticket. The Wrangler, to me, fits in a grey area. You'll never be able to get big power out of it because of it's engine options. And even if you could, the suspension work that would be required to make it safe to drive would cost a fortune. I'd rather leave the Wrangler driveline stock for dependability, and play with the cars.

I have tuned several of my cars, but I do not own my own dyno. I have been tuning my own vehicles using various programs for over ten years.

I guess I’m 6.5 on the chart.

Started back in the day. 90's 5.0 Mustangs with blowers.
00's with Corvettes LS and LT-5 350 to 427 cube
mid 05 with Hemi in TJ's

What's the 3.6 bottom end capable of holding?

Would be nice to see graph of Turbo / Positive Displacement / Centrifugal blowers vs Big Cube V8

Fast Cars Sports - Big Naturals 427 + cube
Fast Straight Line Cars - C. Blower or Twin Turbo
Fast Sport Truck - Turbo / 's
Jeeps V-8

That's why I like the big V8 for Jeeps. Look at that big flat torque curve! It will feel like a 2500 lb vehicle.
The Turbo got some boost on the top end for sure. Do you know the psi on that run?

7lbs on our older tune... It's a bit better now.
