Wow If they would have told me they were denying a warranty claim from that I might have lost it to be honest. I’ve personally never had a vehicle at the dealer for anything warranty related so I don’t know the process and frustration thats involved but damn if that isn’t some lazy, incompetent service. Is there really a stone they can stand on to justify why they denied the claim? I don’t think so. I think you’re better off trying another dealer. Sometimes I shake my head at some of the ridiculous stories people have gone through because of poor service. Hopefully another dealer can take care of you or jeepcares can get the ball rolling for you.

Thank you. Seriously when these clowns opened just the easiest panels from these areas and told me 'there is mud everywhere inside the dash' and asked me 'how deep of water my jeep was submerged in' I actually left work for that BS then they show me this and accuse me of 'using my jeep as a submarine' better luck next time I guess. These guys are used to city slickers with pavement princess jeeps in my opinion and refusing to even look at this further without payment is completely undeserving of the jeep name, the mopar warranty, thier personal service record, anything. For the record, after this thread and the dealer reviews I immediately called them and said "please don't touch my jeep I'm not paying for any of this 4 day long bull****" I've got the big fancy warranty and everything.
I pulled my jeep out and I'm pulling codes and panels to make the case myself - - total cop out. Unfortunately these guys have never seen a jeep that has actually been off road because I live in the bay area CA.
Still cost me $200 for this bull**** diagnosis. If you want it done right do it yourself I guess.... At least for the diag. This took 4 whole days to get, I could have had that in 5 minutes from an Amazon obdII. Also for the record I am a systems engineer and this just feels. Showing me a 'page of bad sensors we have to individually check out' when they all terminate at the ac module and the whole submarine comment is just preying on plebs that know nothing about electronic systems, cars, computers, you name it. The service manager literally compared this to snapping an axle on the rubicon trail - - - - if my A/C dies on the rubicon I'm still coming in for a warranty service call me crazy. Blown away that people will defend this crap for hitting a puddle hard in my ex-profile pic from 11 months ago. Sorry but whose side are you on?!?!

Latest update is that this dealership is completely rotten to the core. After this tread and looking into their reviews I was so sketched out about them even touching my Jeep so I called first thing in the morning to get it out of there. Show up, pay $200 for this crap, just so I can be on my way and bring this up in my case. Then the Jeep will not turn over. You cannot believe how angry I was at this service department. They said they would put it back in line to check it out tomorrow. Unbelievable.

For the record, as I had suspected in the first place, the HVAC Module is totally dead. It failed all codes. They wanted to charge me $200/hour to individually track down every sensor attached to the module under the false pretense that I flooded my car up to and past the glove box. I think this could only happen with no doors just hanging out in a lake. I feel sorry for anyone that falls prey to a scam like this.

I come back the next day and apparently this guy was so upset that I wouldn't start the job by paying him to put my expensive aftermarket sound system back to stock, that he either A) never put the car back together properly and caused a safe mode fault or B) (most likely) never disconnected the battery when he ripped out the head unit causing a safe mode fault. They cleared the code and it fired right up. McKevitt CDJ in Berkeley. Total crooks.

Yeah I got my $200 back, they didn't want the trouble that was incoming there. The service manager actually had the balls to tell never to come back and tried to put this on me.

We have not heard the dealer's side of this story from the dealer. I suspect we may be missing something...

Just an FYI, but mine and others have reported this same issue. When driving with either the heat or AC on, with the system set to re-circulate the air (no outside air in) something will bypass that and suck in outside air. So in the winter, all the sudden you will get freezing cold air in behind the glove box, even with the heat on. In the summer with AC on you will get hot air in. If you live in a dusty area, it is easy to assume that dust could be sucked in this location as well. We discovered it recently, and the only way for us to stop it is to turn the entire hvac system off. Otherwise it keeps doing this off and on.

I would push the dust in the system as "working as designed " since this happens due to the way these are built. Just let them know you have issues with the system venting in outside air when the heat or ac is on. That is a known issue it seems, and is not run through a filter. So if you are in a dusty environment, you will get dust inside. In fact, it is behind the glove box, so that's where most dust will be.

Those photos look very much like dust, and not mud and not mud at all...pretty ballsy accusation by the dealer.

A few weeks ago my AC started completely freaking out. It would only blow hot and would not change from defrost / legs / front etc. Didn't really think anything of it and brought it into my local dealer after a road trip. No problems but AC. Today they call me and say that I need to come look at the vehicle because its not going to be covered under warranty, saying there is 'mud all over the inside of the dash.'

Naturally I came down there immediately after they showed me some pictures as this is absolutely ridiculous in my opinion. The 'mud' was literally dust from driving out in Utah on dirt roads. If you have been out there you would agree that dust indeed gets everywhere but, seriously, how can that cause a claim denial? These guys literally just took out the foot panels (glove box and under steering wheel), saw some dust, then call and accuse me of 'using my Jeep as a submarine' LOL! This thing would have so many problems if it was flooded, it would be so obvious. The AC module is so far up the dash you would have to be in 4 feet of mud for an hour at least.

I was freaking out that there was some kind of huge design flaw that allowed mud to splash up under the dash, and these clowns hadn't even taken off a single dash panel. I didn't design the Jeep to have the area under the steering wheel and glove box exposed to cabin dust. God forbid you actually use your vehicle and some dust topples the mighty Jeep :SMH

What is sounds like, and what I cannot believe, is that this is going to be held over me forever for any warranty work on electrical components. This is the first warranty work I have ever needed on a vehicle. My JLU Rubicon has 16k miles. Any thoughts? Suggestions? Similar stories?

Has anyone checked to see how much dust has accumulated in the rear right tub interior? There is no sealant around the tailgate hinge pieces that penetrate the tub.

so "Jeep" shows pictures of totally modded out jeeps doing extreme "off" roading as a selling point, (like in the posters at the dealership) but if you use it for what it was intended for, and in your case, basic normal driving...they kick you to the curb??? why not make that a commercial? "buy our jeep, the most capable off road vehicle in the market.....but....if you do off road it, we will criticize you and void your warranty!!!
justifying owning a jeep just gets harder and harder as of late......:jk::facepalm:
This in in stark contrast to companies like Mazda, who openly clarify that autocrossing a new Miata will NOT void the warranty. They’re aware that it’s a selling point of ye vehicle and stand behind it.

Take a page from that book, Jeep.

Not only that, but support an owner even if they do full exhaust a minor suspension upgrades. Stay small Mazda, stay small.
