If you're trading, don't worry about it. If I was buying, I would either prefer it to be left as is or repaired by a pro. A half assed attempt to cover it up will look worse than just leaving it for the next guy to see and worry about.

I had it hanging on hooks in the garage. I grabbed it, and as I was walking, tried to bump it up & adjust it. Yeah, it slipped through my hands....
So you weren’t using the built in handle under the armrest? Sucks that it happened. Hope you can DIY or get it fixed on the cheap, good luck!

Do people actually use that handle? I find it to be awkward and slippery, at least on the JL doors. I believe the JLU front doors are the same, but maybe the backdoors are different. I carry my doors with one hand at the top of the window frame, the other hand at the bottom of the door.

I use it without fail. I’m also tall with long arms, so one hand on the handle and one on the bottom of the door is no problem. I just tuck it under my armpit and go. Now I just hope I haven’t jinxed myself ?.

Go figure. A few days after I post my Jeep for sale, I dropped the front door.. I was more worried that the glass would have shattered, but it didn't.
I did, however, end up with a bent corner of the bottom front part..
Is this a fairly easy diy body fill/sand/primer/paint project?
Anybody know a good hella yella paint?

Cover the bend area with masking tape and go buy a rubber hammer if you don't have one, you might want to buy a white one, its a bit softer than the black rubber hammer. Now for the had part.

Short 2 x 4 and with a jig saw round out the shape of the corner.

You can buy a plastic Contour Gage at Harbor Fright and it will allow you to find you exact shape of the corner.

Set you door down and make sure it's fully seated on a hard surface like a table top.

Strike firmly but not to hard and use a straight edge to insure its.

Using you rubber hammer the bend should hammer out with ease.

Done them many many times in my life...

Leave it alone or call your insurance company and see if they’ll cover it. A DIY repair will likely end up looking like you’re trying to hide something. Especially if the buyer is aware of the corrosion issues that the Wrangler has.

I've done that too, when the paint isn't cracked. The paint in that picture will come off in big flakes if he does that. And it's not just a bend, it's crushed and then bent as a result of the impact on the ground.

As far as the built in handle, I use it every time. It's the easiest way to line up the hinge pins without marring the paint. Another problem that I see here.

And I don't know if it was done here, but never take the doors off with the windows up. It makes them far more difficult to handle and deal with.

I did not see the BIG crack until I expanded the pic and WOW. Looks like a Tooth paste job to me.

If you are trading it or moving it on. Straighten it out, buy some CHEAP white toothpaste, no additives like make your teeth whiter etc.

It will fill those cracks, be sure to lightely sand it do.wn if edges are sticking up and then paint it withe the right color...

For sure, have those windows down when you take off your doors.

With aluminum? I don't know if it makes any difference, but the body shops seem to think so.
OK, I will top you...LOL

My '59 MG A Race model had Alum Doors.

My drivers side door had a weak latch and I was backing up into my Dads garage and looking over my right shoulder and the drivers door swung openand I peeled the door next to my front fender.

You can imagne. I also knew that Alum was soft and you had to be careful because hard hammering. would spread it out like Suzy SpreadEasy on a Friday night.

So dad and I tackled it and very gently worked the Alum back into shape, not easy but we ended up getting to fit rather well, did remove some shims out ot the door side hinges but it worked...

Welp, 1 guy test drove it the other day. He didn't reply with a price, so today, I hit him up, nicely asking why he didn't offer.. other than the stock D35 on 37's, he also mentioned the door damage, and the scuffs on the A pillars, from where I'd drive in forward, where the hardtop was hanging from the ceiling. I think I'll be able to buff those out.
