Any extra load due to binding was on the transfer case. If you were able to pull out of 4Hi and get it back into 2Hi without much trouble you're fine and didn't even stress the chain much at all. When they get all bound up the are tough to get out of gear. I'm assuming you were able to get it out of 4hi since your post didn't end with "and I couldn't get it back into 2hi"
