Driving Stick at the Toledo Plant

This thread reminded me of when I worked in production at a Chrysler assembly plant back in the 80s. I was one of two who drove them off the line and to the roll test stations. Occasionally, we had to drive a stick shift. Those were exports but we'd get a few off the line per shift.

My regular partner and I both knew how to drive a stick but he wasn't always there and his replacement frequently didn't know how to drive one so I got to drive all the sticks on those days. Also, we knew which of the 4 roll test operators didn't know how to drive a stick and we avoided their booths when we had a stick.

Ahh...the memories.

this thread is funny.... as i feel the same way whenever i have to take my jeep in as its a stick. but even more so when i have to have my cobalt inspected, its a stick with 258k on the original clutch. i doubt i will see that many on my jeep clutch though. Honestly i cant wait to replace it with something better.
