Very nice! I really like the look of those sliders. Nothing over the top, but look to provide sufficient protection. I might have to file these away for later.

Awesome build man, that 392 XR looks to be a MONSTER.
Thanks! The Patriot sliders are probably the biggest surprise of my build in a good way. They blend into the Jeep like OEM, but provide significantly more protection without looking ostentatious.

The angle up versions stick out 2.5” from the edge of the door and are 3.5” below the door entry.

The only reason I wouldn’t recommend these is if you are running tires so big you have to trim the pinch weld. The Patriots extend just a tiny bit past the pinch weld into the wheel well.

They look great man. From your post it seems like they were a pain in the dick to install, mostly due to factory hardware being seized in place. I’m glad I read through that first, I would have used more ugga-dugga and broken the bolts, I’m just sure of it 🤣

I’ll defiantly be checking these out.

Next Venture diff skids and covers arrived today. Ordered them on Black Friday. Initial impressions, these things are the battleships of diff skids. Heavy, intricate, and well made. Certified Angus Jeep beef.

I’ll post more photos and impressions after the installation. For now, I have to decide if I want to void my warranty and pot the locker sensors or wait and do it during a fluid change after the factory warranty is up. Any suggestions?

Good stuff. Need that Hemi to haul them around ;)

I'd go ahead and pot as if you do it cleanly and carefully the dealership will never know. Plus the pain factor if they fail is big even with warranty as they will want the axle back to stock before doing anything.

What John said……. But I went a different route, I have the ZLocker harness in the back because I needed a little more length, and I got one in the glove box for the front, just in case.

Wow! I had no idea this existed but it looks to be a great solution. Thanks for posting it!

Sure no worries……for me it just seemed like an easier solution since I’m still entertaining the idea of tons, lol…. That’s why I haven’t re-geared or anything. The drawback for me is, I need to find someone that’s gonna do RK long arms to buy my rear axle , might sit on it a while, lol…….

Those are a neat product but they just ignore the in-axle locker position sensor - you can see just the two wires to the axle. They have a little latching relay that is the signal back to the computer the locker is engaged or disengaged.

So the computer doesn't know the locker is engaged or disengaged; it knows that you have told it to engage or disengage.

Is this a big deal? Not really as if you install aftermarket lockers you don't have a sensor to confirm their true status anyhow. So this just makes the e-lockers work the same as that.

Why Jeep bothered with a position sensor not sure - probably some lawyer told them needed to do it so the driver was suitably "informed"

This is the case with my Mopar locker harness, just on and off with aux switch, no dash icons or lights and whatnot . With the ZLocker I think the computer is talked to, because all the icons work on the dash same as factory…….. that’s all that really matters to me, lol.

It might talk to the computer in a different language, but as long as it works same as oem, that’s all I’m after. The rest is above my pay grade……:)

Those are definitely beef. Can’t wait for my NV skids! I’m potting my locker sensors around 1K miles when I do my first oil change. Gonna go ahead and get it over with so I don’t have to worry about it down the road.

Yup, that is why it has 4 wires back to the chassis harness. It fakes the position sensor signal so the computer is happy and the dash lights do what you expect them to do.

Very clever from Z-auto to come up with it to solve a problem if you swap axles, or have failed factory position sensors.

The scent of gear oil at the dinner table:

Installed the Next Venture rear diff cover and skid tonight.

Overall the installation took a bit longer than I anticipated with the main slowdown occurring while getting the bracket that goes over the diff bolted in. You are given two threaded spacer bars, a bigger flat one for the passenger and a smaller angled version for the driver side. Getting the bolts started into these bars seems like it should be easy but with fat fingers, it is tight enough you have to experiment with different holding techniques until the treads catch. Really not too bad but it will make diff oil changes more labor-intensive which we all knew going in on a setup like this.

If you want to use a 3/8" ratchet or torque wrench for the Allen bolts that hold the cover you will need to find metric Allen drivers that have a decent amount of hex length before the ratchet attachment portion starts. My standard length 3/8" drive Allen was too short to get through the skid holes on the bottom two bolts. I torqued the rest of the bolts to 34ft-lbs, per NV's recommendation, and snugged the bottom two up "pretty tight" with a handheld Allen key. I'll probably only go to 30 ft-lbs on the front cover as the Allen bolts start to deform ever so slightly at 34ft-lbs. I tightened the upper bracket bolts to 50 ft-lbs.

The tolerances and fitment on the Jeep are absolutely perfect with nice even clearances around the driveshaft and no bolt alignment surprises. The mounting is rock solid. If you damage the diff through this skid the entire rear end of the Jeep may no longer be connected so you'll have bigger things to worry about.

I'll get some daytime photos after installing the front this weekend. The front skid will interfere with the Rock Hard Front LCA skid so the LCA skid will be meeting the hack saw and angle grinder to force a symbiotic relationship between the two.

Those look sweet. Gear oil goes great with white bread turkey sandwhiches and a glass of lemonade.
