Hi all! Brand new here, so sorry if this is a repetitive post. I tried searching with no luck. Just got a '23 Rubicon JLU 2.0L. Yesterday I took the top and doors off and happened to notice while driving around that the ESS feature wasn't engaging. This morning it actually did engage like normal, and just now on another ride it didn't. Is this something related to doors being off? Haven't been able to find any info specific to doors off. I did see in the manual that there are quite a few conditions that can cause it to not engage. So I'm guessing doors off may impact some of those conditions (ie cabin temp). Just curious if any of you have similar experiences.

That has more to due with whether or not the vehicle is heating or cooling, as that requires power to get the vehicle to the set temp. ESS will not work if the vehicle is working to heat/cool the vehicle to the set temp.

Thanks for your response! Once I read the manual and saw all those possible conditions, I had a feeling that may be it. I know all that was left on from when I had the top/doors on so I'll take another spin with temp controls turned off. Interesting how many conditions impact ESS, but does make sense.

Page 6 of your gauge cluster screen will have the Start/Stop info if you're curious as to why it is or is not engaging. If its constantly on a "Battery Charging" cycle that can be an indicator that you may need new batteries soon.

Worked like a charm with my climate control turned off. Thanks!
