I only run doors off wihen there’s no rain in the forecast so they won’t be outside when it rains. Will grab one more single hook so the front doors are held by three hooks. HD only had one of the double hooks, which is why I only have one double and two singles.

I added cut 2x4s to help brace the hooks. Will paint them white to match the rest of the fence.

Someone mentioned having a hook at the bottom, too. Might do that. Spread the weight, you know?
Looks good! I would do the hook at the bottom - honestly, my objective is to put the majority of the weight at the bottom of the door, with the top being just a stabilizer/retainer hook. I want as little weight as possible on soft parts (weather stripping).

Just the inner panels are aluminum. The outer skins and window frames are steel.
Must be an odd form of steel then, because a magnet won't stick to it. The only exterior panels on my JL that are steel are the rear quarters and the floor pans.

Just finished mine. Just the front doors off for now... still have a 2 year old seat in back.
Nice job. Looks like you drilled those into studs too, which anybody here thinking about going this route will want to do. Those doors are heavy.

I finished these Q&D carts using a design I saw online...less than $60 all in...a single 2x6 that Home Depot cut to the correct dimensions, two furniture carts and an hour! I had removed the doors of my JL the first weekend I had it, and it was driving me crazy having them leaning against the wall in my garage unsecured!

I enhanced the design Sunday when I put the doors back on because of a rainy forecast here in Nashville....holders for my side mirrors and non-locking lugs!

Absolutely. The amount of pressure in such a small area, physics says they should deform.

Any concern about damaging the window rubber flanges around the windows?
Hanging them with regular utility hooks will damage your seals. I learned this myself the hard way. I'm a Jeep owner and also a web developer. I actually was just hired to rebuild a guy's site that has some new door hooks designed specifically for Jeeps. They support the door from within the channel (see pic). They are great and I would personally recommend them (even if I didn't design the site lol). The site is arcoffroad.com and he's got a promo code going on right now to save a little $$ "arcusa10"

This is a good solution. Wish I had the wall space. Will have to stick with my homemade cart.

Anyone use something like this from Topsy, Stack and Roll?

I have an engine stand sitting around, just e-mailed them to see what the diameter of the pipe on their rack is, to make sureit will fit my stand.

You can wheel this out, put the two rear doors in first facing each other and the front doors on the outside, I would use a couple moving blankets draped over the interior doors to protect them.

Only concern is how stable it is? anyone use one of these?

Also how heavy are the doors roughly?

lastly I assume it is a good idea to lower the windows prior to removing them?

Note I have a Sahara on order for the wife, just buying stuff for it.

This is exactly what I have been looking for. Looks like a great solution and a great price. I just placed an order!

Thanks!

I can’t comment on the door stand, but yes 100% windows need to down when you remove the doors. It allows you to reach thru the door to grab the handle and also keeps your window safe while they are off

I'd mount that to a large board with the casters mounted to the board. Like a skateboard. This way it wouldn't bow down in the middle when loaded.

You could also built that with 2 2x4 running the length at the bottom and make door separator loops out of iron pipe with those same pipe pads.

You only need 1/2" pipe to separate the doors. Rather than permanently mount the loops to the bottom frame - just drill holes and slide the loops in. Then when not needed, you can break the cart down for storage.

I think I'll just make this for myself and post photos...

Harbor Freight sells the mover dollies with castors for $8. This is what I used for my YJ one. But if you start with this and modify it a little..

Something like this, only I have 2 doors per cart.
