Can it get much easier and still have a real door with power windows and the check thing that keeps the mirrors from denting your front cowl?

If you think it's hard, you should have owned a JK or even a TJ.
JL'S are easy peasy.

Yes I did own a TJ with the painted bolts that would instantly chip off off as soon as you put a wrench to the. It's like they didn't want you taking the doors off on a TJ. The reason I ask is because sooner or later you are going to scratch your door(s) in the the process of loosening/tightening. Are there no issue with the door accidentally popping off if you leave the bolts out.

How would the door "pop off"?

He is correct about the roads, but yes unless you're driving with the doors off they wont fall off. Unless of course you get into a bad accident and the doors open.

I think I still have popped blood vessels in my eyes from trying to get my old TJ and JK doors off...

I'd expect that to happen rather easily in an accident.
So now we are talking about scenarios where you’re in a bad enough accident for the latch on the door to fail, the Jeep being upside down, and the check shearing off? Got it.
