So, I have a 19 JLUR, and I have 2 door hinges that are starting to bubble. Seems to be a pretty common thing based off of my research. My question is, how many of you have left it alone? I'm not a fan of repainting a vehicle. I'm covered for 5 years with unlimited miles. I'm thinking I should wait till it gets worse, or more areas start doing the same thing. I don't want the thing painted 20 different times. Plus, how fast does that really spread? I know rust can mover pretty fast, but how quickly does this spread? My next biggest problem, is no body shop near me is really setup for Aluminum. Should I take to an Audi body shop? They have a lot of experience with Aluminum, or at least take it to a Ford Certified body shop. Thoughts?

I would go Audi. I am currently working with a dealer an hour away because they have a nice restoration and body shop under their umbrella of companies. It is a common issue because they do not paint the door before they apply the hinges. There is metal to metal contact. I am hoping they primer my door and hinges the put them on before repainting. Painting everythign then putting it together can make the hinge bolts look horrendous.

Pretty much have the same thinking as you.

I'm probably going to leave it alone till it gets a lot worse, or paint starts to come off. I just don't want to repaint it.

I just had mine at the detailer for my annual detail and he noticed this same issue on almost every hinge, doors, hood and rear gate. I will start with the dealer Monday and hope they can take care of it properly.
@JeepCares, I have had paint protection ceramic coating (System X Diamond) from day one, will FCA cover cost of recoating all affected panels?

I just got the call back from my dealer. They say not covered under warranty. He couldn't give me an answer about why a 1 yr old vehicle isn't covered under warranty other than a few months ago they changed what is covered. Well I bought the vehicle before the change so I should still be covered. They told me No. This was Robbins motors in Manhattan KS

I took mine into the dealership, earlier this week, to look at several things.
One was a bubble near the hood hinge, less than the size of a dime. They told me they were approved by FCA, to cover it under the warranty. I will probably have them do it in a couple of weeks.

This is LAME. @JeepCares is this your corporate policy or are the dealers making these decisions???
Electricians have known about this type of metal reaction for decades. There should be some kind of mitigation before painting...

Adding another one to the series here...2019 JL Unlimited Ribicon in Mojito! green with 12,783 miles...leased April 8th 2018. Paint work was not great to start but now the bubbling has started at the hinges...I have been following the horror stories on here. I was thinking of buying out the lease, but maybe Iā€™ll just ride this one out...
Scheduled for paint on January 11 2021 as the dealership with body shop is over loaded with warranty work...

Took mine in a few weeks ago for pictures and nothing has been done yet. The dealer told me they sent the pictures and Jeep has said they have not received them yet  still waiting to hear in the reimbursement for all the paint protection.
