We bought the extended warranty (see below), that specifically details that it is valid in Mexico. 6 months ago my head unit bricked due to a Mopar over-the-air software upgrade, Courtney at @JeepCares initially pretended to be helpful have stopped responding, Lauren (a "specialist" who first told me that she would fix this, says she doesn't care, because I'm in Mexico). Mexico says I have to pay them and then "claim it" to Jeep US, who obviously don't give a shit. So, I am stuck at paying for a new head unit plus installation for something that Jeep did, despite me having a warranty. What a shitty company.

Thanks for the heads up. I go in this week to sign papers on mine. The salesman recommended I purchase the extended warranty as it covers non mopar mods the dealership installed. I don't believe that in the least! Hope you work something out with them. We just got back from Cabo San Lucas and I noticed alot of jeeps driving around. Was a bit surprised.

I've had similar experiences here in California with my wife's Ford. Extended warranty not honored.

Question - Why do companies push so hard to sell extended warranties?

Answer - Because it is in THEIR best interest.

Our local "dealer" won't even install Mopar parts if not purchased from them. After the last oil change on my previous JLUD that left the entire right side of the engine covered with oil along with the front diff, my new Jeep won't see their service department again.

Are you sure that this warranty is valid in Mexico? Warranties tend to be limited to the country where the vehicle was purchased.

Canada might be an exception for vehicles purchased in the US. I don't know for sure.

Where is your vehicle registered? Are you unable to bring the vehicle to the US for service?

Jeep is registered in the US but it's over 2000 miles return trip! So a bit far. Our extended warranty (as per above) says if you can't make it to the dealer any dealer in Mexico is fine.

I'm confused. You said your head unit bricked up six months ago. Have you been in Mexico all this time? Your location shows Austin, TX.

Is the authorized dealer in Mexico refusing to do the service? Or, are they asking for payment upfront?

I live in Mexico, have forgotten to update my profile! Yes, the Jeep has been here for 2.5 years. The dealer in Mexico wants me to pay for everything and the just "claim" it back to the US (who/where?). But, I don't really trust that "process". Also, I have never paid for a warranty claim before on anything upfront and the have to claim it back.

Seems like the real problem is your Jeep dealer. Have you tried a different one?

Also, the paperwork does say, "you may request service". It does not say, "you may obtain service". That leads me to believe the rendering of service is basically up to the shop you take it to if not the shop you purchased the warranty from. Yes, I agree, kind of sh!tty, but it looks like the contract may allow for what you're dealing with.

Yes and no I guess, seems like they don't have a good track record of getting reimbursed from the US. Not even sure how the responsibilities are divided between them when it comes to warranty. We have two where I live, Cabo and La Paz, been in contact with both.
