Dome lights not coming on for driver’s door

Just noticed this morning that when I open the driver’s door the dome lights don’t come on. They work just fine for the passenger door. The audio also doesn’t cut out like normal so clearly there’s an issue recognizing that the door is open. I did a quick google and forum search and only found one JK who had this issue so apparently it’s not a common thing.

I should add that the door locks when I use the remote.

I tried disconnecting and reconnecting the wiring harness, no luck with that quick fix.

Has else anyone encountered this issue?

Tanner, there has to be some sort of proximity switch in there somewhere. I'll bet that's the problem since your radio doesn't cut off when you open the door either. Take 'er in, and let 'em have a look at it. Should be an easy fix.

Yup I agree, I took it in this morning and got a loaner. Too busy working 17 hour days to try and hunt down the issue myself. Besides, that’s what warrantees are for!

@JeepCares thanks, shouldn’t be necessary though because so far Mac Haik C/D/J/R in Temple, TX has been excellent with their customer service! They got me in a loaner and have been very responsive to my concerns.

Sounds like bent terminals in the door plug... Ever have the doors off/unplugged?

That’s exactly what it was. My dealer fixed it and got it back to me today (1 day later- awesome!) I do remove my doors often. I guess I’ll be more careful when plugging the wiring harness back in. I’m not used to having electronics in my doors... usually just the nylon strap and the door is off in 2 seconds.

Let the white locking mech have the leverage for you... Dont try to force those... Those terminals are kinda check and bend easily.... At least it was an easy fix and not something more serious!
