It was easier to read decades ago when everything was monospaced in the age of typewriters and computers that could only deal with fixed-width fonts. The need for that two space hack went away with the common use of proportional fonts.Oh, do not get me started. I will forever put two spaces after a period because it is easier to read. (Even if most things take it out automatically these days.)
Hell, even the contemporary style guides have converted to recommending one space after periods.
But you're apparently resistant to change. Hopefully your friends cut you some slack when you show up for movie night with a VHS tape
