There needs to be a dedicated forum category for all things wave related. Can’t believe how often this comes up.
I don't know about a dedicated category but maybe the mods should just delete wave related threads. On the other hand they are a nice release for general forum shenanigans.

Mike, Mom saw what the kids were doing, she wasn’t, or at least wouldn’t have been startled or concerned, and right then, there weren’t other vehicles near enough to have been startled, if Intertrashional used Decent air valves, nobody would have been startled. A stuck air valve just isn’t something that you can predict. Nobody did anything Stupid, but they sure gave me a LOT of room coming off Sexton, fortunately the Hugo exit is near the bottom, and has a Great pull out to deal with things like that.

About the only thing worse than driving an International, is a Volvo tractor, Mack’s and Freight Shakers ain’t much better, unfortunately, Pete’s and KW’s aint the only class 8 trucks on the road.

PacCar for the Win 😉

As long as you don't get the paccar motor...boss bought three of them, sold one and the other two have been swapped after their mx-13s failed. The one he did sell he made sure to sell to a buyer far far away...lol

The two newest ones have the 605 Cummins and that thing is a beast, definitely worth it.

Thanks for everyone’s input. Like many have said, not getting a wave back isn’t offensive or anything, it just happened enough in such a short period of time that i wanted to make sure there wasn’t a “we don’t wave anymore because of X legitimate reason.” Now i know that’s not the case and I’ll continue waving as I choose.
Make sure to wave soon enough too. Waving at the last second doesn't give people time to respond, even if they wanted to.

I’m old school, I’ve been driving truck for 36 years, and if it ain’t YELLOW, it doesn’t belong under the hood of a Truck 😉

Cummins makes a Good engine, I guess 😉,
Cat makes a GREAT engine.

Cat quit offering hwy engines to other manufacturers years ago, due to frustration with the emissions issues, I don’t know if they have started offering them again or not. I don’t get to spec them, I just get stuck driving whatever the bean counters get the best deal on.

My company is best known as a national truck rental and leasing company, but we have a logistics arm, as well, I am a “Flex Driver “ not dedicated to a particular account, I am sent where they need coverage. Until I injured my left knee last month, I had been working the True Value Hardware account since last November, which is the longest I’ve been on the same account, since I’ve been a flex driver.

My Absolute FAVORITE truck, that I have driven in those 36 years, without any doubt, the one that I would have again if I could.
2000 Peterbilt 385. C12 Cat, 10 spd, 246”wb, a pair of 147 gallon long range tanks, NO DEF, and a dash that almost looked like it was out of a 747, gauge’s for everything, and chrome bezels to boot 😁. It was my assigned truck at my last company, best riding truck I’ve ever driven, and surprisingly nimble considering the wheel base. For the loads we hauled, the C12, while not a 3406, was well suited to our work, I could hit the bottom of Cabbage Hill at 65, and just dropping one gear, 7 miles of near continuous 6% grade and not drop below 50 mph. That was back when truckin was actually Fun, if ya had to work 😁

I was a truck driver for a short while. I understood it as a form of legalized indentured servitude, and I worked for a company run by people who didn't think rules applied to them. I realize not everyone thinks that way about the profession, and some people enjoy it. Me? Not so much. Loved the trucks, though, and driving.

Oof. How's your head this morning?
Good. That's the one thing I love about everclear, as long as you stay hydrated while you drink it, zero hangover!! You might be dizzy for about 30 minutes when you first wake up, but that's probably just my liver saying "YOU'RE KILLING ME!!!!!"

Unfortunately, like so many aspects of life, they are taking the Fun out of driving, it was a different world 30+ years ago, professional courtesy was a real thing, now long since forgotten, regulations, ELD’s, corporate attitudes, etc

The trucks may have gotten a bit more comfortable, but the older trucks were more Reliable, all the electronics and emissions BS nowadays, is the most common breakdown

I couldn’t work an office job, a cubicle would be a Cell to me. As far as indentured servitude, were you driving OTR?, that is a Rough Life, never done it, hopefully never will.

My first company was a Family Owned food service company, delivering to restaurants, hard work, not a great schedule, but Very Good pay and Great people to work for, I was with them for 14 years, ran OR, WA, CA, ID

My last company, was a local foam plant, they are Family owned, and have plants of various types, mainly furniture related, all over the country, I Hoped that was going to be my “Retirement Job”, they treated us Very well, Great Pay and Benefits, M-F weekends and holidays off schedule. I ran OR, WA, ID and UT.

Both of those jobs were pretty consistent routes and schedules, got to work with a lot of great people, and saw a lot of Beautiful country

Unfortunately, the last company sold the plant that I worked out of in 2016, I had been with them for 14 years as well. The new company used my current employer for their logistics needs, and I signed on to stay working out of the same plant, Supposedly doing what I had been doing 🙄, yeah, check is in the mail, and there is a Santa Claus.

It’s more corporate oriented, but I do make even more. Ostensibly due to Covid, the plant that I was working out of closed in April of 2020, that was when I became a pool, then flex driver, essentially the same things, but organized differently, schedule is rather unpredictable, but I make between 120-140,000, this year so far hasn’t been my highest grossing year, but the home time/ work Balance has been much better,

A guy(or gal) can make a Great living if they want to, if they are willing to do the work, many start in OTR, but that really isn’t where the Money or homelife are

I had the best of the best. Dump truck driver on prevailing wage civil jobs. Home every day. Company-owned truck. No logs. Unlimited overtime. Sounds great, what I just said, but I can write books about it.

When did this site become the "I Cum For Cummins" forums?
Sounds more manly than Vibin' for VM... ;)

Too many Jeeps to wave at these days. It was a more rare (unique) to see a Jeep "back in the day" (when I used to walk in the snow to school and back home uphill both ways) and I would wave. Sorry, not waving now - too many. Although, there is a possible exception to this. If I am driving my 99' TJ and I see and another TJ (or an older model Jeep waves at me), I may wave.
