I noticed while detailing that I have several little paint blemishes, the only way I can explain it is it looks like the surface wasn't completely clean before the paint was applied.

There's one little pimple on the passenger side windshield pillar, and on the passenger door. Then like dirt under the paint right inside the passenger side door. Then blemishes near the door hinges.

Hmmm. I would take it back in to the dealer if I were you. I don't necessarily mind all of it but the ones by the door hinges look bad. Or you could just take it and rub it on a few tree's to blend it in.

I will not be participating in this forum as of 8/31/2018. It's been a fun ride, but it's time to move on. Take care. - Dustin

I had 1 on the front of my hood. I installed Suntek Paint protection and it covered it up for the most part.

Have two on my hood, very small with something trapped under paint similar to your first two photos. It can be expected with mass produced vehicles. It indeed sucks.

Wranglers are in the $40K-$50K price range now. They need to up the QC across the board. Tough call as to what you would want them to do? ? I don't know if I'd want them painting all those different areas. Saying that.. the hinge area is totally unacceptable. The A-piller and door area will probably get chipped up but you should point it out. At the very least I'd take it in to the dealer and document it with photos so if something happens later you have a documented history. That way they can't say it was a stone chip. Good Luck.

Hi Cyalume,
We're very sorry about the paint blemishes on your Jeep. Have you made an appointment with you dealer to get this checked out? If so, you can send us a private message to keep us updated on the progress.

Just noticed today. Looks like the clear coat is starting to separate on my hood.

Take it to a very qualified body shop for their professional opinion and a estimate before taking it to the dealer.

I too have the “pimples” that the OP shared. I only have them on a few spots on the roll cage bars, though.

Here's my story.....This photo was taken by me at the Jeep plant after it was built (obviously) in the quality audit room. I work for FCA at a nearby plant and we had a salaried person from my plant transfer to Toledo Assy (Jeep) and happens to be a quality manager. Through him I was able to go to his plant and check out my Jeep before it was delivered and because of him, he wanted it to go through a quality audit so my Jeep would be perfect when I received it so I was thrilled because they check all systems, paint, any blemish imaginable. If you look closely at the pic I took, click on it to go full size and you can see a little green arrow sticker by the mirror and the fender vent. Wasn't sure on the mirror but the fender had a paint blemish. These were on the Jeep in various places (anywhere they found a spot that wasn't perfect) and could also be a trim gap that wasn't even. I was really confused....a little pissed that when I picked up my Jeep from the dealership, the first thing I did was look at all the areas that had those little stickers (that I could remember) and see if they fixed it.....and to my dismay they didn't... granted they did fix the trim gaps but all paint blemishes remained? What really confused me was the little green arrow stickers on the inside were still there!
Now mind you I am not a very fussy person but I take great care of my stuff and most of these blemishes are very, very subtle you may not notice but it's the once you know it's there thing. To shorten this getting winded story, I did not bitch and really it doesn't bother me (or I would have) but I just could not believe it got shipped out without all things being addressed especially to me when my guy is the quality manager? Actually I was just at the Sand Dunes a week ago and found another sticker on the inside of the passenger rear door jam! Another reason for not saying anything to the quality manager was as with a lot of us on here, we had to wait what seemed like forever to get our ordered Jeeps and a quality audit added another few weeks. I am sure he was not aware and I have zero complaints with this Jeep but there are little secrets! Well a few more hours of work and I'm taking that Rubicon down to Toledo for the Jeep Festival!

I'd definitely leave them alone if they are only on the bar. The less paint work the better.

First, Congrats on your new Rubicon! Hopefully your QC inspection notes trickled down to whoever makes QC decisions and changes are made down the line to improve build quality. Thanks for sharing.

They won't/didn't because I didn't say anything. I guess in hind sight I should have just to address a possible pencil whipping of the quality process? Jeep is crazy awesome and really enjoy driving it.

Well I had everything documented at my dealer, and they say it's in the system now. My main concern was just future issues, and I'm not about to have a repaint or touch up on panels, I think that would drive me more crazy. As is, it's probably only me that's going to see these spots when I detail it every so often.
