Yes and no. They do recommend varying the speed, which is obviously not running on cruise control.
I get that and know what the owners manual says in that regard for varying engine speed during break in. Still, it does not prohibit or not recommend use of the cruise control during that time.

If people here are looking for some win on the internet in making that point, they can have it. I just offered a data point to the OP's question.

Nope, cruise works smooth and transparent, no perceived issues at all.

There is thinking and there is knowing. The owners manual does not address what you mention.
Well, I do know that my cruise works because I avoided using it the first 300 miles and yours doesn't probably because you didn't. I varied my speed..... Like the owners manual said to.

Correct, you could/can use the cruise control, if as you say, you keep in mind that you need to vary speed during break in period. Yup, you could use cruise as with cruise you can easily vary speed..

I don't think he or anybody is looking for a win on the internet. You need to understand when posting you do not know the level of experience / knowledge of the person that is reading it. Your statement may have some feeling that it is totally cool to use cruise at highway speed for 100 miles during break in period.

Anyone that has broken in engines knows that the first X miles should be done with varying speeds. Best to be on back type roads with inclines and declines as well as varying speed limits. Varying speeds not meaning highway miles going from 65 to 60 and back to 65.

Can you use cruise and or run highways during break in and not cause catastrophic damage? Sure many do. If you want to break in properly though varying speeds with RPM changes for the first 300 miles is best.

I bought my JL this last Monday with less than 20 miles on the odometer. Had a 80 mile ride to get home and when I engaged the cruise for the first time on the highway, I had the same issue of the rpm pulsing up and down and the sensation of the transmission hunting for a gear. I disengaged it for most of the rest of the trip home and retried the cruise and had no issue. I chalked it up to the adaptive learning not being set yet in the PCM.
Hi Hootbro,
If you do believe what you are experiencing is outside of what is considered normal operation of your Wrangler, please feel free to send us a PM. We would be more than happy to assist while you are working with your dealer.
