Do you need all 5 TPMS for system to work

I was recently at discount tire for lug nuts. I asked for a quote to install tpms in the tires I just installed in my wife’s Jeep. He advised that he thought you’d even need it in the spare even if it wasn’t going to be put in rotation. Can you guys confirm this. They want 60 a tire to do this. (That includes the sensor)

You do not need all 5. I bought rubicon takeoffs and the prior person pulled the TPMS. I bought 4 Schaeder TPMS replacements and had them installed and did not do the spare. No issue (unless of course you plan to use spare in rotation)

Yep correct no need. Sensors only "wakes up" when rotating so as long as you are not using your spare in your rotation, you are good.

We certainly apologize for the situation, to confirm you would not need all 5 sensors.

To elaborate a bit on what Goin2drt stated, if you were to want to do a 5 tire rotation, when the current spare ends up on the vehicle it would cause a system malfunction light with your TPMS system. Certainly should have been a bit more conversation on our stores half, as far as your needs. I will PM you, as we would like to further assist.
