Do You Mind Getting Trail Scratches?

Took my Jeep off-road on the way home from the dealer and banged up a wheel real good.

Was also just in Joshua tree driving through bushes and what not, so some of the plastics and some paint has some nice markings to remind me of the trip. MyJeep‘s scratches are memories and add personality.

My .02 pinstripes are the price of admission on certain trails.

Dents (in body panels) however result from driver error.

Not 100% of course, but for the most part.

I agree with most people here, but I would add that I bought the jeep because I was taking my truck on the hunting trails, beating it up, including pinstriping like crazy. I figured I should try to keep the truck nice from here on out and get a vehicle a little more meant to take the abuse.

I don't go out of my way to get scratches and dents. But if you're using your Jeep they're gonna happen. Dents do bother me considerably more tho.

Couldn't care less about the terrain condition, but I will not drive my Jeep through branches or risk scrapping it. too damn proud to drive around with a scratched-up Jeep. Don't need a beat up Jeep to show my masculinity normally when I go out, I bring a branch cutter, but recently purchased a 4inch blade chainsaw especially for that.

Visited Moab, picked a good line without realizing those scrubby little pine tree branches are like steel. Scratched up my front fender flair. Kind of bums me out, my wife says it tells a story about how much fun we had…

Right? This is probably the most common attitude among off-roading JL owners.
I'll do whatever I can to avoid scratches at all times. I won't be happy if I get one. Then I'll get over it because it's a Jeep and scratches comes with the territory. I might try to fix it, or I might not.

I mind. I mind enough that the Jeep has full PPF. But I’m gonna do all the trails, so PPF has to be good enough (it’s amazing).

I hate seeing a brand new Jeep trashed with pinstriping. That paint is never coming back. It won’t buff out. And it definitely affects resale.

I went with partial PPF (installed by my local shop) and windshield protection film (installed by me from grab-gard.com). Ceramic coating over both.

The reality is the ppf helps with debris hitting your vehicle. It will never hold up to scraping along a rock in the trail. So it depends the kind of offroading you'll do.

The ceramic coating helps a ton with cleanup, you can remove dirt much easier, so don't scratch it up yourself as much.

I do the best I can to prevent scratches and dents, but like others have said, I feel it's part of the territory of going off road.

Dents in body panels suck and upset me, but dents on the undercarriage, bumpers, and rock rails don't bother me at all if everything still works. I try to keep my Jeep as nice as possible, but I am going to use the crap out of it!

Also, my biggest reason for buying a new Jeep was because I didn't want to deal with someone else's abuse or negligence. If I break it, hopefully it was doing something fun and I get a story out of it.

Rear fender rash, all wheels have rash, rear bumper has a dent and deep scratch, front bumper has scratches, rock sliders have several dents and are all banged up. Belly skids all banged up, front bumper skid plate needs to be replaced soon.

But the body fine. Isnt that what all the other crap is? To bang it up?

I know every time I take my $1500 backcountry skis up the mountain I might crack them. They will eventually. How is that any different than getting some trail "damage" fenders are cheap. Bumpers relatively cheap and usually just require paint touch up. Now damaging a $4000 hardtop? Thatd suck.
