It's meant to look swirly and scratched up. If you live around British Columbia, Canada this is unavoidable given the narrow trails with branches scraping the entire side of the Jeep. You feel bad the first time.. Then it's just fine, you should be happy that you are protected by the hard top ?
Lol, same for anything east of Manitoba as well.

I was less worried with my white Jeep. The firecracker red one, well, that will show a lot more than the white did. I still plan on hitting the trails, try to avoid as much carnage as possible and deal with the scratches and scrapes as they happen. All part of the territory when trail riding in the woods.

Trail rash doesn't bother me. I use Meguiars ultra polishing wax twice a year and it does a good job of buffing out 99% of the rash. There is some that are below the clearcoat and can't be repaired but its a Jeep and I love the outdoors to much to worry about a few scratches.

The poll scale is missing a midpoint:

I hate scratches but I still take the Jeep to the trails.

I do care if I get scratched up but I also understand it is the price I pay for going off road so I don't upset if I come home with a few.

I bought my Jeep to wheel it. I avoid abusing it and will take a bypass is one is available. My goal is point A to point B not hold my beer and watch this. I care if I get scratches but accept that they are part of the game.

I mind enough that the Jeep has full PPF. But I’m gonna do all the trails, so PPF has to be good enough (it’s amazing).
Same here, had full PPF installed right after I bought the Jeep. Well worth the investment IMO

I have zero intention of selling my Jeep so I don't really care. if it gets bad enough at some point in time down the road I'll just vinyl wrap it. Coudln't care less about resale value.

Plus it's half the reason I bought a white jeep!

Dents are another story. I don't do dents.

Punk’n is one of the all-time best colors and PPF is awesome.

To my mind, nothing should stop you from wheeling your Jeep. If you don’t mind scratches, cool. If you do, get PPF. The real tragedy is people who don’t enjoy beautiful trails because they’re afraid of damaging their Jeep.

First application of “desert pinstriping” was within my first two weeks of ownership. Just part of the territory in my neighborhood. No soft and fluffy vegetation. Bright white tends to hide them pretty well. I even managed to pinstripe the hard top a few weeks ago. Thankfully I didn’t kiss the rock wall any harder.

Yeah my hardtop is a mess, I'll just rhino line it or something if I ever need to. I treat my freedom tops like someone I don't like half the time.

On the flip side I'm terrified of ruining my Trektop so I treat it like a baby.

IMHO, Big difference between “use” and “abuse”. I bought mine to go where I want to go, and I do. If there a choice between contacting a rock or tree or driving around it, I’ll drive around it thanks. I use my rig for what it was made for, but I don’t intentionally try to beat it up. I try very hard to maintain my equipment under the old “take care of your equipment and it will take care of you” rule. YMMV

One thing that appeals to me about Jeeps is they have character when they have some imperfections. When I started taking mine off-road, I was more concerned about denting and/or rolling… pinstripes became the least of my worries :CWL:.

Let's put it this way... If I'm going off-roading... I'd rather drive your Jeep than mine.

I love hard hitting football... but I'd rather watch your kid play than mine... (if I had one)

So no... I don't like scratches on my stuff.

Funny thing, the first pin stripe from trails was very painful, but what hurt the most was the damage from a Walmart parking lot. Looked like a kid took a key and made pretty swirls in the door.
