Not exactly a mod question, but don't know where else to ask this.

So I got my JLU in with the premium soft top but plan on getting the OEM hardtop some time before Winter.

My question is, do I have to buy anything other than just the hardtop? Do I have to install wiring (like for the windshield wipers/windshield fluid)? I checked the back of the Jeep and couldn't find any wiring harness back there, maybe I'm just looking at the wrong place?

You will need the wiring harness, washer hose and new stalk to replace the current one off the steering wheel for full function. And of course a dealer flash to make it all work.

But you don’t need to install a wiper on the hard top. If you went that route, you wouldn’t need anything more than the hardtop and bolts

True, I never really use rear wipers anyway and it's one less thing to break.

@Ruby Jack

The necessary Mopar hardtop Wiring Package / kit will run you about $170+- when available. The kit will have all you need to include the new stalk. You will also need the computer re-flash.... You also need the torx bolts to secure the hardtop.

Getting the wiper powered and washer fluid plumbed to the rear window is a must. Without it, how would you be able to complain about your washer fluid dripping down the back window! LOL

I ordered with a premium soft top and have already traded another member for their hardtop. If you ordered soft top only originally you are probably missing brackets over the center of the soundbar and above the rear view mirror that the freedom panels latch too. My jeep did not have these.

Good to know. I don't plan on getting the hard top any time soon, maybe a few years down the road. Hopefully by then they'll be ab ample amount of hard tops to choose from.

Could you take a picture of what your referring to for the brackets needed? Also were you able to wire the hardtop in to get the wiper and rear defrost to work? Thanks!!

Did you ever get an answer for this? I'm in the same situation as you here.

It’s a small black bracket on the forward end of the sound bar, that the freedom panels rear latches grab ahold of. Without them, you won’t get a good seal and the panels will be loose.

After a little digging I think I found what I needed based on this diagram.

Here are some pictures of the brackets in question. I know the rear 2 are not on soft top equipped Jeeps, but the front I’m not sure of.

none of them are attached to the soft top installed jeep. I priced out the brackets and bolts, its 270.00 for all 4 brackets and a set of bolts. the drivers side front bracket is currently on back order.
