Yeah, the diesel did not come with steel knuckles. Which was a bit of a let down knowing it would need to get replaced potentially at some point.
I would have ordered the XR package if it were available for the diesel.

bummer for you; mine did!
i wonder if it’s because mine is a Willys, with the narrower ‘Euro’ D44 instead of one of the other trim levels?
or just luck of the draw,..?

Diesels did not automatically come with steel knuckles..

Almost 98k here but since it was my wife’s commuter before I took over it’s 99% street duty. Metalcloak Baller joints are on the shelf awaiting time to get them installed with new steering too. No weird wear on the tires, no wobble.

Gonna state the same...I bought my JLUR with 22K miles & I now have 95K miles and I believe my ball joints have never been replaced & it drives/steers great. My JLUR is also just a DD too and never off-roaded outside of beach driving. I guess this goes on my list of things I will be replacing at 100K miles.

My steering has been fine for 85k miles on stock ball joints. My last wheeling trip seems to have done it in though. Slowly working my way through things that could be causing wobble now starting with track bar bushings and ball joints.

I replaced my Ball joints at 24K miles. made a huge difference in steering and handling. I switched to dynatrac HD ball joints. when they're due for rebuild i will switch for steel knuckles
