Hey DIY oil guys. When you have put in your 5qts has it gone up to the wire ever?

I had mine changed at the dealer, but I did give them a 5qt jug of my favorite synthetic. Then I watched the tech the whole time through the window. Fully drained the pan. Then added the whole jug but nothing else. It barely touches the wire at the top of the indicator. Since I know it only has 5qts in it, I know what to look for from now on.

Is this what 5 quarts looks like? It’s so hard to tell. This picture was taken a week after I bought my JL, probably had 100 miles on it.

Hard to tell 100% by that picture, but if the oil is right to the top of that flat cross-hatched area of the dipstick you're right where I am after a full DIY 5qt change w/ new filter.
It's easiest to tell after letting it sit overnight and checking it cold, w/ a light on the dipstick you'll clearly see exactly where the oil stops on that stick.

Also be sure to use a 1/2" socket for the oil drain plug and a 15/16" for the filter cap, using metric sockets aren't a tight fit.
