The Mojito Show vehicle appears to have black satin on both the main grille and the grille inserts. Would there be any problem to remove the grill, remove the grille surround trim pieces and then black satin Plastidip the grill and inserts at the same time without removing the insert?

You could. I took it all apart to keep the inserts the silver color.

Just an update, the 3 cans of Plasti Dip is holding up nice. I've washed it a few times, no issues. I normally put on some Armor All on it after I wash it. I heard that it might cause it to break down, but no issues yet. Anyone hear anything about that, or experience with Armor All breaking it down?

@RogueKJ I would not put Armor All on my worst enemies coffin.

Whether it will screw with your Plasti-Dip I do not know, but....as far as Armor All is concerned...:puke:

FWIW, you can clear or texture over the plasti-dip, and it still comes off like plasti-dip, if you ever need it to. I just did this to my JEEP emblems and Trail-Rated badge. Hit with a few coats of plasti-dip, then a few coats of truck bed spray, then a few coats of clear. All very light coats btw and let it dry in between coats. I then peeled off the excess overspray just fine, nothing left behind but the blacked out emblems.

I ran a plasti-dip grill on my JK for about 3 years. It held up nicely but did fade and become a little dulled/faded over time. Trying to decide whether to do this on my JL or just go with a black Mopar replacement for ~$200.

I have been running PD on my WK for about 7 years. It holds up well! Do like 3 coats to start. Every year or two, just hit it with a quick shot, np. I typically wash my jeep with a pressure washer and still holds up well. You obviously cant get right up on it, but 8 inches or so and it's good. I love it and plan to do my new JL, when it comes in.

Just skip the derp (plasti-dip) altogether and bedline it. Much easier to do and easier to clean.
