Thanks for posting this. Amazing that it would fit in there, I had to give it a try. It got it installed in my Rubicon! All for $131. It takes some time and patience to work on that small are. I took one day to install the air compressor, one to figure out complete the wiring to my Aux2 switch (the two supplied wire harness need to be modified into a single harness), and one install the hoses and finish up. I originally planned to buy/install the Arb coupling but I ended up getting the one supplied with e compressor to mount on my rear bumper reinforcement bracket. I still might replace it with the Arb which would mount more solidly and look a little better, but this one works great. Being behind the rear wheel it definitely needs a cover.

I still can't believe it fits. And it works perfectly with the Aux2 switch and supplied 150psi cut-off.

Glad it helped. It's a b!tch to install, but the results are worth. I've been running mine like that for almost 2 years now, through snow, a couple of storms, hot summers, and it held up very well.

Thank you to the OP for this idea. Works awesome. On a 2024 the plastic pops back on and fully covers the fitting when not in use. I actually cut the bolt heads off two of the bolts that fit the compressor to the rubber isolators on the arb bracket. Used them as just studs screwed into the bottom of the blue piece. That allowed me to set in and the attached top bolts.

Awesome! Is this the sky one-touch? I don't see the hardtop connector harness on yours.

Yes, forgot to mention that. It is sky one touch.

one other thing i forgot to mention. I wrapped the taillight wires in heat insulation tape. I know the compressor gets very hot and didn’t want them rubbing on it or the feed line.

Disclaimer: I got the idea from here: https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/arb-single-compressor-mounting-options.12647/

I wanted onboard air but did not want it in the cabin or under the seat. I already have an amp and a CB mounted under my seats. We also cannot mount it under the hood by the driver wheel in the 4xe, so Grimm mount is not an option. After a lot of research and giving up on mounting a dual ARB air compressor, I settled for the single one because it is smaller, lighter, and easier to handle. I stumbled upon the forum post above and wanted to try the same.

The process was very straightforward. The mount that comes in the box is like it was made to be mounted behind the taillight. The taillight clears without any issues, too.

1- take the air compressor mount apart.
2- Mount behind the taillight.
3- Put the air compressor back on.
4- Wire to the battery or aux switch (I ran mine to aux 2).
5- Run the hose coupling anywhere in that area (I ran mine up by the hard top harness port cover - pics below).
6- Admire your work.

It sounds easier said than done, mainly because it is a very tight space, and a lot of patience is needed. That said, I would do it all over again. I can't think of putting anything else in that space, and mounting the air compressor there clears up more room in the cabin for other stuff. It is also very easy to get access back to it for maintenance.

The air compressor is well protected. It is not in the cabin but is also not exposed. I did not run the air intake up like in the post above. I did not find a reason for that. The taillight area is open to the wheel well and is already very well-ventilated.

Hi OP im new here, so forgive me if this is has been answered before. I'm going to attempt this myself (waiting on the parts to be delivered) only difference is I'm going to try to use ARB's new brushless single. I think it should fit based on your pictures but I do have some additional questions about your wiring to the aux buttons in the JL. So correct me if I'm wrong you ran an additional 3 (or 4) wires to the front of the car.

1. RED - From Pressure Switch to Aux Number N
2. RED - Relay to Battery +
3. BLACK - From Relay and Motor Power to Battery - (if this is not tied together this could be a 4th black)

Or is there a spot in the back where you grounded this all to?

The brushless is a little different since they removed the relay but i'm thinking the wiring is very similar however instead of 2 from relay its right from Motor Power and 3 no need for the ground from the relay.

For anyone that finds this the brushless arb single also fits. No need for the plate OP used with the quick release bracket it comes with you can kind of just jam in there and it's not going anywhere. I used 10AWG wire and did 3 runs from back of car to front via the frame channels. Prob wouldn't use frame channels if i did it again but it works.

Can anyone specify the model of the ARB or Vevor compressor used? Thanks!

I completed this install today with an ARB I had previously built into a Harbor Freight case. Used the relay that came with the wiring harness and cut the plug that connects to the compressor power/ground to reuse the connector. That's a 10ga wire that had a slightly thicker coating than the 10ga I had on hand.

Wired it to Aux3 in my wife's 392.

The big departure I took from the rest of the thread was drawing up a bracket in CAD and building a cardstock model. I had a local metal shop fab it out of 1/8-inch aluminum plate for $20. I had to drill the in my bracket, cut a relief around part of the body flange, and cut off the excess length on the mounting bolts. After all that it bolted right up to the back side of the swing gate latch bolts. No fiddling with tightening all those bolts in a tight space.

I probably spent as much time as anyone else getting the bracket designed, fabbed, and adjusted. But I plan to do two more Jeeps this way at a minimum, so I think that was time well spent.
