Apparently the website did a refresh and changed the part # of the original wheel and raised the price. It is the same specs and they are honoring the $200 price, so I am happy.

Finally got the local shop on the phone and they are really confused at to what happened... On hold while they get a manager on the line.

That was the crux of the problem. The local shop wasn't answering the phone, and the corporate customer service rep couldn't view the orders, so said my only option was to keep trying the local shop, which I did.

I was in customer service for years, so I am very polite and patient on the phone with people who want to help.

I usually get great results by explaining the issue and being polite. The challenge in this case was actually getting someone on the line who could solve the issue.

This is precisely why DT was unwise to no longer have forum reps as reported. He contacted the local mgr, had everything resolved and set up, had the local mgr contact me, gave me the mgr’s name and direct number in case he didn’t, and followed through. Instances like this could harm DT’s reputation and cost them business.
what will DT save by not paying for this customer service rep. ?

Provided they are not worn out or damaged, tires do not simply age out after 5 years

If they are vacuum-sealed in plastic, maybe not. If they are exposed to air, yes, they will dry out. Every compound is different, but 5 years is a good median time to consider getting new ones.
