I have now had a second drain plug go missing from the driver’s side floor. Apparently pushed through and lost on the road somewhere. Anyone else have this problem? I made sure when I installed this one that it was seated properly. It lasted 3 weeks.

I've had the sides shred off one of mine, but it hasn't fallen through the floor ... yet.
My floor mats came with their own set of plugs, so I do have a spare set ready.

Are your plugs directly in the floor, or in mats? And are you sure you have the right size? (I don't know if JKs have different plugs, some off-brand ones might be slightly too small, etc.)

My 23 is showing carpet below drain plug, that has no cover. Brand new.

If you have the all weather mats, they’re molded with a piece that will go into the drain hole. Suspected that was a contributor when I my lost own plug so I cut it off.

You need to cut away the piece of carpet covering the drain plug. If you look closely you’ll see that it is just held on in a couple spots. It also sounds like you have the OEM slush mats that have the plug/hole for the drain built in.

I cut away the carpet piece a long time ago. The OEM slush mats have a hole in them at that spot. Are you saying that the drain plug is now supposed to plug into the mats, as opposed to into the floor, and then the mat plugs the hole? I had the plug underneath the mat, which was where it was from the factory (it was also under the carpet).

Yes. Otherwise the front mats don’t lay flat. Look at the bottom of the front mats. You’ll see the piece that sticks out and goes into the drain hole. The drain plug then goes into the mat to seal the drain hole.

The reason I cut the bottom part off the floor mats is because they don't seal to the floor. If you move the plugs up into the mat, water and damp can still come up and get into your carpet. Cut the mat short, plug both.
