looking at the schematics for the oil filter housing, it looks as though there's no additional drain to remove what dirty oil remains in the filter housing assembly?

ir does the majority of everything simply drain out?

am I overthinking?

Yes, you are overthinking it. But if it does bother you. Do what some oil change places do and flush out the old oil with some new oil. Just have to waste more oil than necessary that's all.

Just ask @cosine he knows!
Maybe that's why some dealers give you an extra quart :)

Since there are 3 engines, it is always helpful to state which engine. But either way, none of the engines have a drain for the oil filter adapter. On the 3.0 L diesel, most of the oil drains back into the oil pan after 5 - 10 minutes.
