I’m retorquing things since I got the gears done. I’m dealing with some seepage so I’m going back to shop. As I read the values. It says not to re use the fasteners. Is this true that once you drop the cover you need new bolts? Also is the gasket reusable. Thanks

The gasket is reusable. The bolts are too. Theres no way the original bolts are torque to yield.

I believe the torque on diff bolts is 20-25 ft lbs. Maybe yours got tightened a little too much, which caused the gasket (which is reusable) to get crushed and allow a leak??

Actually I went back over them and retorqued everything. They were all at 25 except for three up front and three in the rear. Let’s see if that does it. What’s funny is both covers the top bolts were loose
