So when trying to build a new jeep the gears and 4WD rubicon systems arent selectable when picking the diesel. So my question and hang up is what are the true differences of the sahara vs the rubicon other than the wheels/tires, lockers, and swaybar disc? Functional differences. I've had my Sport for a little over a year and havent taken it offroad yet. Doesn't mean I never will. I'd rather never be limited in doing things. I know on the Diesel Willys suspension is the same as the Rubicon. Is it the same on the Sahara Altitude?

I don't know all the intricacies on the differences between them but the willys, sahara, and rubi all have different suspensions. The Altitude package is just their "midnight" or "blackout" package
-Rubicon uses a part time 4WD while the Sahara has Command Trac which is more "hands off"
-Rubicon has Dana 44 front axle's with a 4.10 gear as opposed to the 3.21 and Dana 30 on the sahara (Both have Dana 44 rear)
-Rubi's axles are also wider and the only model you are questioning to have lockers
-Rubicon offers the steel bumper group, sahara/sahara altitude offer painted bumpers
-Rubicon has the vented hood
-I think the altitude only offers the soft top or one-touch. icould be wrong here.

I can't remember others. some other aesthetic stuff that i didn't list is standard in the altitude such as leather seats. the willy's is basically a sport with some modifications, (tires, high performance suspension...)

The Altitude Package on a Sport S adds Sahara shocks and heavy duty brakes.

It's Selec-Trac and it is optional.

He was inquiring about the Sahara Altitude and Command Trac is standard on saharas with the selec-trac being option. Though, looking at this. I guess Command Trac is just a fancy name for the regular 4WD system that is on the sports as well 🤷‍♂️

I realize that. You mentioned what the Altitude package was and I simply added that bit of info about the Sport Altitude as an FYI.

The Sahara Altitude already has the Sahara's shocks and brakes.

For a Diesel Sahara and a Diesel Rubicon the you are going to get Dana 44 front and rear axles with a 3.73 ratio. The Sahara will have a 2.73 low gear and the Rubicon with have a 4.0 low gear int the transfer case. The Rubicon will also come with locking differentials, a sway bar disconnect button and longer suspension travel.
