Should we expect that the diesel engine option might also get the better cooling system from the JT and therefore might get the Gladiator's higher towing capacity? Or is that longer JT wheelbase part of why it can tow more? (might be naive question... i'm new to Jeep. And towing!)

@joshg; The towing capacity of the Gladiator is largely due to the change in the rear suspension...it’s essentially the rear suspension out of the RAM 1500. But I t would definitely be nice to have a higher tow rating...

Thanks. Don't understand exactly the difference... is that saying that the rear suspension from a Ram1500 is stronger/better than the rear suspension on a JLU Rubicon? Would not have expected that.

@joshg; well...it’s not necessarily *better*...it’s just built for a different purpose. The RAM rear suspension is much stiffer in order to handle higher payload and towing but you lose articulation and some off-road capability. It’s essentially built to work. The JL suspension is much softer to better handle off-road obstacles, but at the cost of payload and towing. It’s built for the trails. Same reason the F150 ratings are nearly twice that of a comparable F150 Raptor. Simply built for different purposes.
