I’m working on saving up my hard earned money for a Jeep Rubicon Diesel and won’t be able to purchase one until late summer/fall 2021. By that time the 2022 will be trickling into the dealers. I’ve never owned a Jeep but from what I can tell the differences are minor between the different years for the JL. The 2020 did get the steering box update, and the Diesel engine may see some updates for 2022 so just seeing what your all opinions are for getting a 2022 or just saving some money and getting a 2021 that may be on discount from dealership.

Couple things to consider. Some options may not be available on 2022 right out the gate (colors, models, etc) or anytime. If any of these matter, might lean towards the 2021

You will rarely see a model left over on sale for a wrangler. If options are basically the same I would go with the ‘22 as it will have better resale because it will appear 1 year newer.
But as stated, if that new model year doesn’t have a color or there is a significant up charge for some options, maybe the ‘21.

Given that the 2022 order banks should be ready by then, I'd hold out for the newer model. I did the same thing by waiting for a 2021. The only color risk is if you wanted a less mainstream color like Punk'n or Bikini. Red, white, gray will be available.
