Why wouldn't the Jeep have a Rolls Royce transmission? Rolls makes durable shit which is why they've been outfitting aircraft with engines since WWII.

ZF makes the transmission, and a lot of different manufacturers use the ZF 8 Speed, not just Rolls Royce.

And FCA bought the rights to these transmissions and manufacture a ton of these 8-speeds out of their Kokomo, IN plant. ZF couldn't keep up with the demand when they first started using them so they started producing them themselves.

Rolls Royce automobile company is no longer related to Rolls Royce Aviation. They split in the 70’s but both, understandably, wanted to keep the name.

Most JLs have FCA’s transmission “based on” a ZF 8HP50. The ecoDiesels have an actual ZF 8HP75. There a lot of different ZF 8spd transmissions too. The Rolls in the video is using an 8HP90 same as the hellcats.

As far as I know, most RWD cars use the ZF 8 speed transmission. The only exception I can think of are Porsches, and probably other VW stuff since they like their dsg.
