I can notice the engine was pinging under full throttle at high speed, like 60 mph overtaking. I'm in CA with crappy gasoline but I had several V8 Mercedes AMGs with NA and turbo engines no issues.. Always fill up with top tier 91 Octane gasoline. I used to put superchargers on to my Toyota and really familiar with air fuel ratio ping and detonation that kind of stuff, but this 6.4L is a NA engine all and all..

So, anybody experienced the same? I'm trying to dump a can of octane booster and see what happens.

Could it just be a bad tank full or has it happened before with different brands? If it isn’t just a bad tank get it checked immediately, detonating 392’s eat themselves! I have never experienced pinging with my 15 GCSRT or 392 RUBI. Have always run Chevron.

I have noticed couple times before this is like 3rd time. Just filled up yesterday at Chevron 91 is $4.89/gal. Since there is no CEL, is dealer able to read date log or how they check it? Because I don’t want to waste time and effort then get told by the advisor “can not duplicate customer concern” “it’s all normal” type of BS.

Report it and keep reporting it. Keep copies of all work orders to make it impossible to deny a warranty claim. An issue reported during the warranty period is covered even after the warranty expires. I reported an issue with my 89 Bronco several times that they “couldn’t duplicate “ . The first time I took it in after the warranty expired they magically found it, fixed it and charged me. But since I had the copies to prove I reported it the warranty covered the repair
