I'm currently driving NYC to Chicago on the highway at 75mph, went over a small bump and my front wheels starting violently shuddering back and forth with the steering vibrating like crazy. We checked for leaks or obvious tire pressure issues, none found. Started driving again at 60-65mph and the issue isn't coming back yet. Just last week I got the front suspension dampers replaced, front brakes rotors and pads changed and the clutch recall done. I'm thinking it's related to the dampers, should I continue driving or find a service station immediately? Thanks!

It's your call, but that doesn't sound like one of those things that's gonna fix itself. For your own safety, find a shop, have them look over the front end. Especially the ball joints! Hopefully they can find out what's what for you.

Ball joints. Not damper is most likely the issue

This has probably been said many times in other places, but the wobble in our 2018 JLUS was recently eliminated by a dealer replacing the steering damper and a single shock that was leaking. I suspect the damper was more important than the shock but can't be sure and apparently needed replacing anyway.

Good luck with fixing yours.

Greg.

Normally hitting a bump resulting in a death wobble is a faulty steering dampener. Strongly suggest going with an upgraded option rather than a stock OEM one. The mopar fox dampener works well.

Update:
Dear Fellow members:
A very violent death wobble occurred again! Two weeks ago on the highway at 50 mph. No shoulder so crawled in the midfle kane at 10 mph till it stopped. I had no chooce bot to drive for about 500 yards this way!
As per Jeep care instructions I had taken it back to the dealer who had changed the damper in Aug. They said nothing wrong and cant repeat the episide and charged me 200 dollars for diagnosis after keeping the Jeep for 3 days.
Stellantis was kind enough to reimburse only the rental car charges.
Jeep cares advised me to take a 2nd opinion after the recent occurrence about 2 weeks ago. 2 dealers said they cant and dont want to touch this issue! Told me to take it back to the dealer who installed the new damper.
Went back, and they said they cant do anything till I change all 4 tires and do a wheel alignment as recommended after the first occurrence. I have convinced them to test drive with me this Wed tio feel the shimming every time the front wheels go over a bump!
I wonder if they have checked everything like if they torqued lthe gear box nuts etc properly when they did the cluth recall, and also if they primed the new damper before installing it and checked all the bushings after.
Please advise !
