and I was thinking about getting a completely different set of wheels and tires just for the street since I do a lot of street driving. I was thinking about going with the Cooper ST MAXX @Discount Tire just not sure if I want to do the 40's for the street or just stick with the 37's like I have now.... I really don't like running my STT Pro's on the street...

Going to give the Cooper Evolution M/T 35/12.5/17 a try. They are a bit more aggressive than the BFG KO2 that came on my Rubicon. At $250 per from my local America's Tire Store (aka Discount Tires) I could not pass it up. I will probably be 60/40 Street/Off Road so these should work well. Time will tell.

those are an E-ply tire.. I currently run them.. and for the weight of the jeep they are too stiff.. ride is impacted, and the tires don't flex as much as i would like when aired down.. highly recommend a C ply or D play tire..

Thanks @SleepEatJeepRepeat for the honest info. After more research on sidewall construction and not wanting to have a terrible ride quality I think I will switch to the Cooper Discoverer MTP in 315/70/17 D2. I will drive this more on the street than off road so I don't want it to be to stiff. Main goal is to gain a bit more ground clearance over the stock tire without having to go with a lift kit for clearance.

Update: America's Tire just told me the Coopers are not available. Why are they listed on their website if they are not available? Still looking.

Ko2 is a great on road tire (that is super capable offroad too) and extreme snow rated.. that in that size actually has a C ply which is ideal.. and if you want to stick with coopers people love the stt pro.. but it's pricy

Has anyone gone from a C rated sidewall to an E rated and noticed a big difference in ride? I read one thing that says yes and another that says no. I am beginning to hate tires. lol

Yes, that will make a very noticeable difference in ride quality. I went from C to D and notice a difference.

I haven't heard this to be the case. Is there a particular size you were looking at? Happy to look into this for you.
I'd appreciate any insight you have. It was a monumental struggle to get a set of these, including one shop who said they'd get me the DT's and then went and mounted a set of 3PMSF K02's to a set of brand new rims I bought from them, scratching the rims in the process.

Perhaps it was relevant to only the specific size of tire I was looking for (275/70/18) but I was told in a few spots and from the manufacturer's customer service as well that they were discontinuing the DT version. I have also noticed that the model number (23104) for these in the DT version was removed from the manufacturers website.

Thank you for your time and help.

Hi @RDiddy,

It is confirmed. The DT version has been discontinued in all sizes. This process started back in August of this year from what I gathered. Specifically as to why, I'm not sure.

I doubled checked availability for the 275/70R-18 KO2 DT, and was unable to source a set.

You would think tire manufacturers would know this stuff and offer more D and C rated tires. I mean seriously, has anyone here ever heard of saying, sonofabitch I wish I has some E rated tire so I could have a real crappy ride!

Hi @RDiddy,

Well that is unfortunate, I really like these tires. I don't understand why they would want to kill off the DT lineup. I am in Canada so I have a dedicated set of winter tires and have no need for a set of summer tires that also happen to be branded with the 3PMSF like the regular K02's so that's why I leaned towards giving the DT's a try.

I know that it could be just marketing speak that they ever justified a need to create the DT version, could that be why they pulled the plug on them? Perhaps there just wasn't a lot of real world difference or value between the standard K02 and the DT version?
