All the talk is how hard the car industry is suffering... I've called 5 dealers today regarding Rubicon on the web and they won't give me the time of day...And mostly all I'm asking does the vehicle exist on their lot and what are they willing to sell it for.

I'm really getting tired of trying to give away this $60,000! No Jeep dealer seem to want my cash...lol

Times just must not be that tough...

As much as I dare over the phone...I didn't release my SSN and routing number though...

Honestly, we don't have dealers on every corner around here and internet shopping is really the only way to get it done. It appears dealers only want fresh fish that are dumped on the lot and don't want to go fishing to hook big ones...donuts, coffee and BS'ing in the entry is more their style.

Just kind'a frustrated with the whole process right now. Probably gonn'a see a Go-fund-me page for dealers soon...

The dealerships the OP contacted may be running on a skeleton crew due to the shut down. Those who do contact you back, make it clear that you’re a ready, willing and able buyer who wants to buy.

Tell them if they have the vehicle that you want, you’ll be filling out their credit application. If they do, do it. Once they see your credit application and hear your commitment to buy, they’ll go to work for you.

Have you spoken with the dealer that sold you your JLURD? That would have to have been a fairly recent transaction. That said, the dealers are trying to survive just like us. I'm also in the market, but my problem is having multiple salespeople contact me from the same dealership - they are hungry. Your experience is surprising.

p.s. Many dealers in Phoenix metro are pricing competitively. Not far from southern Utah.

the manufacturers are hurting... not dealerships. dealers kind of have the upper hand on buyers right now because plants in North America have been shut down. low supply and steady demand is good for their pricing, but not so much for volume sales.

For some reasons the dealers are hard to deal with and I understand the whole supply and demand thing but these are the dealers who would be begging their bank for loan and additional time to pay their debt. They just don't understand. Before this pandemic they were all doing good and they are still thinking they will be fine operating like this for another few months and being ignorant and forgetting that their ship would sink any day without selling. Once the factory is open and their lot is full, they won't get much allocation to get new cars. Just a thought...

If they get hungry enough, they’ll start calling.. Unfortunately as soon as somebody says the word Rubicon I think the dealers revert in their minds back to when times were good.. Way back in.. 2 months-ish ago.. and they are like shepherds protecting the herd. Maybe if you leave the whole Rubicon part of the equation to the end of the conversation? Let them drool over the $60,000 you’re waving in front of them for a few minutes then reel them in! Bait, line, Rubicon! :jk:

You'll have better luck talking price and numbers in person. Dealerships will almost always treat you better and seriously if you're there in person. They get so many tire kickers from the phone and internet leads it gives real buyers bad odds. Filling a credit application would get their attention online, but otherwise I'd try to get there in person. Also, no offense but "what are you trying to sell it for" is never a good foot in the door with a dealer or private seller. Look at the MSRP or their advertised price online and go from there.

Yes, I know some dealers are very responsive to emails and internet leads especially the ones recommended on here. They are the minority, not majority.

Yea, I don't subscribe to the idea that dealerships are desperate for customers. I know some people got some great deals lately, but people are always getting great deals.

I think the next couple months will actually be in the dealerships' favor. We all know there is a glut of JLs just sitting on dealer lots. We talk about it all the time. I mean, there are still brand-new 2018s sitting out there and we're nearly halfway through 2020. If factories stay closed for another 2-3 months, then maybe things will swing the other way. Maybe trade values will skyrocket as dealers look to restock their lots.

Who knows? And as others have mentioned, casting a broad net sometimes turns dealers off. Try to get a bit more focused with just a few dealers and express you are absolutely motivated to buy.

I don't know why it would matter. What else are they gonna do, eat another donut? I've also had problems getting them to respond to inquiries, or even when I tell them exactly what I want they respond back "how can we help you?". Even if they have 100 tire-kicker emails but maybe they manage to find one real customer, that is one customer more than they had. I've watched the online listings for several months and Wranglers are selling very slowly. A lot of even small dealers have 50+ of them on the lot. When the factory wants to start sending them new ones what are they going to do?

I have a very specific criteria for the JL I'm after... Punk'n Orange, Diesel, Rubicon, fully loaded and would love the One-Touch Sky top. I've spent hours on the Jeep search portal scouring the country and found one EXACTLY and about four pretty close.

I make the call with the VIN and the dealers go brain dead...can't find it, go looking, ask the inventory manager, say "I'll call you back"...and nothing.

The units are located all over the country, from Texas and Arkansas to California. I'm retired, have the cash and I'm looking for a road trip to go get our new Rubicon and these folks just are not giving me the time of day.

Pretty crazy...
