had the dealer install the Auxiliary switches in my Rubicon today. Later tonight, checked the wiring and it looks like the tech broke some wires behind the glove box. Ran multiple new wires thru the firewall grommet and into the engine compartment. One is spliced into the main battery sensor module on the positive battery terminal. Another set of wires are spliced into a wiring harness on the drivers side of the engine. The passengers side scuff trim by the floor has multiple broken trim clips. Also, they wired the main harness into the fuse box terminals, rather than directly to the battery as the instructions call for.

Also found moisture around the firewall grommet. They cut a pretty big hole to pass the wiring thru and did not seal it up.

Any advice?

I am concerned that my $50k brand new rubicon with only 1200 miles on it is now in a non standard wiring configuration. Worried about what happens if I have wiring problems after the warranty. They did a pretty crappy job and worried about long term issues.

Plan to go back to the dealer in the morning. Is replacing the main wiring a bit excessive, or is this reasonable? Think they just opened a can of worms

Thoughts???

Take that staight back and ask them to show you the harnessing schematic they followed. Call FCA and let them know you are taking it back and ask them to send someone out to the dealership to confirm they did it correctly and safely. Also have them inspection the damaged wires.

I have OCD and this was the very reason I changed my mind right before I ordered my JL and just had to buy one with HD Electrical Group..

I regret not having those switches in my Rubi but after seeing how they have to be installed wouldnā€™t let my local dealer within a mile of it. Itā€™s NOT a simple job.

Thatā€™s a shame. My dealer just repaired some wiring on my Rubicon that may have been damaged when I installed my RV tow harness. It was in the harness that goes through the fire wall. They did an excellent job. A good dealer makes a big difference. Press the issue until I is done right.

Well, took it back to the dealership. They fixed some of the issues, put some RTV on the firewall grommet. I asked them why they spliced into the main wiring harness and they said they had problems with the orange wire re-pin, so they spliced in new wire from the passenger side kickplate to the battery voltage sensor. They also had some other issues upon connection related to the ECM module so they also spliced some more wiring.

I asked them why they didnā€™t tell me about the significant work, and they stated that it is no big deal and they do it all the time.

Wiring still looks pretty bad. They are going to replace the passenger side trim kick plate. I asked them why they didnā€™t check the plastic trim clips and the tech said there are not any. I pulled up a parts drawing on my iPhone and convinced him that it needs to be replaced since it is hanging to the interior by a thread.

Now noticing that my control panel below the touch screen radio is loose. Part of the installation requires removal of this item. Suspect they broke that too.

Opened a case with FCA and they are looking to inspect it in the next few days to ensue the install work is corrected. Will wait to see.

If you can TAKE PHOTOS NOW!

and for the love of God please do not let them have the statement of work form back that they gave you.

Go ahead and make a copy of that sucker.
Yeah, I demanded a detailed list of what actions were performed during the install, got a copy from their work order system.

When I took it back to the dealer, I mentioned to the service manager that I had a case open with FCA and jeep customer care. He replied that jeep customer care is only a public affairs campaign and has no pull and does not mean anything . Thought that was kind of odd. @JeepCares

Can anybody give me the correct part number for the auxiliary switch for a 2018 JL 2door Wrangler Rubiconā€™s? My dealer canā€™t find the right one. They say the old Rubi switch kit was discontinued and don,t know if the current switch kit number for the 2018 - 2019 JL will fit the Rubicon. V/R. rch
