In my current vehicle I have an Itronics ITB-100 that I modified the firmware for so that I could record MPH (instead of km/h) (see https://yakhack.wordpress.com/2013/03/29/194) I've been using it for the past 5 years without a problem, but was hoping to get something better for the new Jeep since the ITB-100 only does 720P recording.
I spent some time in the old dashcam forums to try to get up to speed on new cameras and they all seem to be with screen or ridiculously expensive now.
Then I saw that Xiaomi makes one call the 70MAI. I have a bunch of Xiaomi stuff and unfortunately it's all in Chinese so while it is well designed and functions well it's a bit tough to use at times since I don't speak Mandarin.
Then I stumbled across this last night. https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/70mai-smartest-dash-cam-featuring-voice-control#/ Basically this group is writing a custom FW for the 70MI to make it support English, and they are selling them for like $35.
Looks like they only have one day left on the campaign, but figured I'd share so you guys can get some if you want.
