Dashcam with Safety Group - where to mount?

Hi there. Does your set-up supply power to the camera when your engine is off?

I have a Garmin Dash Cam Mini 2 connected to my OBD II port using their Constant Power cable. However, it doesn’t stay on for more than a few minutes after the engine is off, despite having it set to do so.

Garmin support doesn’t have any suggestions and can’t confirm whether or not the JLUR is set-up to provide constant power through the port.

FWIW , my BlackVue camera stays on via the OBD port while the Jeep is off and parked. It goes off after a set time so as to not kill the battery

Supposedly, the Constant Power cable is aware of the voltage draw and, even if set to always on, shuts down if it falls below a certain level. Regardless, I can’t even get it to stay on for more than 5 min.

That’s a great question. Here’s the exact OBD-II power tap I use. One of it’s features is the ability to turn off after five minutes of so after shut off. I can confirm that the auto shut off, turn on feature works with my JL.
