I considered it but I'm gonna wait a few more. My dealer gave me a Jeep to drive until mines done. I have no complaints with my dealer at all. They are doing all they can and taken care of me very well during this. They're frustrated also l. I'm just confused of how it takes this long for a part to arrive that's my confusion

Same here in regards the dealership.. they have been great.

I made it a point, when I spoke with the Customer Care rep, to tell them that. Zero complaints with my dealership.

Ok, I'll upset everybody.
I read through all the posts and have the following comments:

How would they do a recall if they don't know for sure what is causing the issue and how to fix it. Then have enough parts available to handle the calculated number of repairs. Remember the on-going Takata airbag recall? They had so many to replace there was no way they could do all of them at once even though that problem had caused deaths so they spread out the replacements and in many cases put in the same airbag as was recalled until they had enough new replacements. Plus they go by how many problems are reported by dealers not by a few people on a forum because the 20 or 30 on this thread is very small compared to the 250,000+ they have sold.

There are many parts that are on backorder because they sold more JLs then planned (read the rear glass replacement issue?). Any manufacturer would prioritize parts go to production instead of repair because of the big impact of slowing/stopping the production line for a few reported issues. If the dealer reported issues get high enough they might re-prioritize the mix.

Many electronic parts do not operate well when cold based on the operating temperature guidelines given in operating manuals. The more technology we demand and manufacturers put in to increase sales to a tech-oriented country is going to lead to more bugs and issues. Microsoft still can't put out a bug free product.

What I haven't seen discussed, if it is the instrument cluster that is the issue aren't they replacing it with the same ones that could have the same problem again? And if it isn't the cluster what good would replacing it do?

And yes, mine did it this morning. First time it has sat overnight outside in cold weather since it arrived 2 months ago. I am traveling 1,500 miles from home for a month so I can't get it fixed if it continues.

So let the hate flow.

And add another person to it

JLU rubicon 1 week old to the date. I have kept this jeep outside, drove it in 21 degree cold mornings this past week, for whatever reason today it started to occur. I have not washed my car FYI but it has rained. It was 45 degrees outside this morning on the way to the grocery store. Notice how when the instrument panel comes on it doesnā€™t register speed despite me obviously going at speed.

@JeepCares
Please ask lithia jeep in reno NV to have a loaner vehicle for me. Iā€™m highly unhappy that my jeep will have down time.

Officer: "Do you know how fast you were going?"

You: "Noā€¦ it's a known Jeep problem."

I wonder how well that would go over. ;-)

How would they do a recall if they don't know for sure what is causing the issue and how to fix it.
Stop production until they can stop churning out defective vehicles perhaps.

If enough cases of this dashboard reset are seen, NHTSA should require a stop sale as they have for other safety issues until it is resolved model-wide.

Everyone experiencing this should file a report here:

Mine was suppose to show up yesterday. Pushed back again until 3/29. Mines been at my dealer since the last week of January. Only have 83 miles on mine. I'm hoping this is the last ETA. Been told twice now different dates. It's very frustrating @BCH
Mine has also been at the dealership since January 31. My current ETA for parts is March 15-22... but when I spoke to a service tech 2 days ago (picking up my other JLUR for windshield replacement) he kind of laughed and said it would be a miracle if the part arrived by March 22. :( My only "upside" is that they swapped out the original Renegade loaner for a Wrangler so I don't miss my jeep as much.

No hate.. this is civil conversation; your opinion is as valuable to the conversation as the next.

In regards to the air bag issue,. despite getting an official recall notice on my 2012 Wrangler Sport, the dealership was never notified that the replacement was available. The 2012 was traded in with the original airbag. The replacement Takata airbags seem to also have safety issues as noted recently in the media.

In regards to temperature; these cards are malfunctioning in what is normal cold weather for much of the US and Canada; it is either a design flaw or it is a production issue with some of the cards.

"Any manufacturer would prioritize parts go to production instead of repair because of the big impact of slowing/stopping the production line for a few reported issues. If the dealer reported issues get high enough they might re-prioritize the mix."

There have been enough cases reported that FCA issued a technical bulletin on the issue which suggests the problem is more widespread than what has been reported on the boards.

The other problem for FCA is the fact that the Jeeps with the faulty gauges must sit at the dealership until the replacement card comes in (with the mileage set on the new card to what the Jeep had when parked); it can not be in FCAs best interest to run afoul of the Lemon Laws in most states. It is also not good for the dealerships, because they have a limit on available loaners.

Hi everyone,
Recently there was a Technical Service Bulletin (08-023-19) that appears to address concerns similar to the symptoms that some of you are having with your vehicle. To ensure this TSB applies, we would like to get you into the dealer to have a qualified technician review the details of the TSB and specifics of your vehicle. Once reviewed, the technician can then perform the repair procedure that best matches the symptoms and diagnosis of your vehicle.

Just wondering how many people, here with the gauge issue, formally contacted Customer Care via their 800 number?

Thank you very much for this! I talked to my salesman he said those that had this done it was a quick fix and was just flashing the computer. Which sounds a lot better than replacing the panel which probably wouldnā€™t do much.

I had the dash cluster reboot thing 4 or 5 times in January within a couple of weeks of delivery. Haven't had it since and we've had some pretty cold days. Glad the fix is now a flash upgrade. Will have it done when I get my first oil change.

Do not assume your dealership's service department was notified via the regular FCA channels about this Bulletin.

I left a voice mail just before noon today with my service manager with the TSB number, date, etc; he just called back and the first question was where did you get this TSB? He told me that it was not in any of the official emails they get on Recalls, TSBs, etc. and that he only found it when he did a generic search for the TSB number.

Their primary Jeep mechanic was just finishing up a job and will be pulling my JLUR in to see if a flash update of the software works.
