Curt Class 3 hitch on a 2021 diesel.

Any tips on installing a Curt Class 3 hitch on a 2021 diesel? Instructions mention moving the exhaust but I don't see that as being an issue. The problem seems to be inserting a bolt with the gas tank in the way.

Why a Class 3? The frame geometry (length, strength, etc) still limits max tow capacity to 3,500 lbs.
